Default Cannot enter Mast Height...

It is midnight, I am tracking a ship which I first picked and tracked on Sonar, and have now made visual contact via the Periscope. Although it is too dark for me to identify the ship myself, the target was identified my one of my crew and marked it on thr map as a Subchaser, and if I look carefully, I can concur.

I have selected the ship in the Ident' Book, but when I click on the "Tick", it does put the mast height in the "mast height thingy". I can dial in the mast height manually, but there is not a red button for sending to TDC...

Is it because it is too dark etc? I just wanted to ready the info in the TDC for when I was in position to attack.

I am on full REALISM, except I have outside camera (the GFX look too luscious to ignore )

EDIT: I have no red button at all, on any of the Speed, Range, or AOB dials, so cannot input anything into TDC

Thanks

Interesting...your POSITIVE you have manual targeting on. I believe you have to set up career difficulty after you begin it, but before your next patrol with the radio on the left. If you did it from the main menu, I won't swear they carry over.

That is correct. The settings do not carry over. Each career begins with the settings from the "general options settings."

When you are starting a new career the career setup page has lisitings setting difficulty level from easy to very hard, I believe. What ever is selected there will show up in the career unless ,from the office, you click on the radio and set your prefered difficulty options.

He can easily tell if he has auto targeting on by the presence/absence of the target triangle in the scope or TBT when the L key is hit and a target selected. If there is a triangle...red...orange...green...then he is on auto targeting.

I can't think of any other reason the data input button would be missing.

I concur. I couldn't think of any other reason why it wouldn't let there be an input, plus I know I always forget to change my setting on a new patrol

....don't we all...but its not like you start a new career everyday. One tends to forget these details. Guess thats why aviators found it wise to use checklists. Remember that first ever B-17 that crashed...'cause someone forgot to unlock the elevator. Almost cashiered the whole B-17 program for Boeing...which we now know would have been a major disaster.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

YOU MEAN I HAVE AUTO-TARGETTING ON!!!!

I do have the little triangle blip - I did think it was a bit strange that was showing up.

I distinctly remember starting a career, and changing the settings in the "Career Office" - I cannot think of any reason how I managed to put the game in "Mario" (arcade) mode!!!!

Decisions, decision... start a new career (this is my first patrol, and so far, have only just sunk the Subchaser mentioned above). OR, continue this "Mario" patrol, and change the settings again in the "Career Office".

(can I hack the career save file )

DRAT!!!!!

Regarding settings... so if I change the settings in the "Career Office", each time I load a game from that career, these settings will be used, even if the "Main Menu" settings are in "Mario" mode?

I cannot think what I did to knock it off Realism

...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

EDIT:

Found save data game settings:

For my last game save,the settings are:

[Current]
LimitedBatteries=true
LimitedCompressedAir=false
LimitedO2=true
LimitedFuel=false
RealisticRepairTime=true
ManualTargetingSystem=false
NoMapUpdate=false
RealisticSensors=true
DudTorpedoes=true
RealisticReload=false
NoEventCamera=true
NoExternalView=false
NoStabilizeView=false
MPShowPlayerNames=true
MPShowTorpedoes=true

How depressing!

Gonna do some tweaking (yes I have backed her up )

EDIT, EDIT: Changed the FALSE to TRUES etc, and the game would not even load!!!
