Default Manual "rig for red"?

Ahoy there subsim.
Firstly I'd like to say that I am consistantly amazed by the quality of all the mods I have seen on this forum. They literally turns SH3 into a whole new game in its own right.

I currently play with the legendary GWX 2.1 modfication (along with assorted mini mods) but I feel that one interesting feature seems to be missing.
I am sure this point has been raised a number of times or maybe that it is even possible within the mod, but I would very much like to have the option to manually "rig for red". I thought it was a very cool feature in the opening SH3 cutscene and I was disappointed when I discovered it wasnt possible ingame.

So. Has anyone developed a mod or fix that enables this feature? Or am I being stupid?

Cheers.
Rob.

So far this still remains one of the first points on the "Wish list" I'm afraid!

WELCOME ABOARD!

Sorry, but I'm afraid Myxale is right. There's no way to do it that I've heard of.

Welcome rob89

Sad that it's standard equiptment on SH-2.

That and a few other things.

But, GWX 2.1 more than makes up for it.

Why would you want to rig for red in daylight hours?

"If you have to ask, I can't explain it to you."

"Just so we can."

"Not so much to rig for red in the day, but to unrig for red at night."

Any explanation I can think of sounds hollow in print. I think mainly just so we have more control over our boat. Also, as said, you could in SH2, so why not SH3?

Well thats a shame. I always imagined the rig for red option as sort of like a "red alert".
For example spotting an enemy destroyer in broad daylight, crash diving and ordering a rig for red.
Ah well

Not really. You only rig for red at dusk. It lets less light creep out to be seen at night and it lets your eyes adjust more quickly to darkness. That's the only reason it exists.

Well yes I know that. But surely the decision to use it rests entirely with the Captain of the boat?
With that in mind, I'd use it to denote a red alert situation

I think you can do something more or less similar by adding a drag & drop red translucent graphic (Like the current convoys map, flags, etc) so you can cover the screen with it whenever you want. Problem is it might not work in full 3D views like the control room :hmm:
