Default Multi ship targeting

Is it possible for multi-ship targeting of ships like in SH3? I came across two Japanese ships sailing together, identified both and manually input the targeting solution. Launched 3 torpedos at the front ship, locked onto the rear ship and fired my 4th torpedo....however the 4th torpedo headed for the ship at the front instead and hit.

In SH3, the 4th torpedo would've gone for the rear ship because that's what my scope was locked onto.

Can anyone explain this please?

Cheers guys

yes and no.

theres no salvo shot switch that said its in how you approach it.

in your specific case you needed to turn off the pk and update all your
target data for the second target including ship ID and then the
torp would go to the right ship.

in my case I as often as not target one ship and shoot on two or three
using the offset dial.

theres a myriad of ways to shoot.

Honestly I wouldnt trade the PK for a salvo button.
the button pushing I can do but the Position Keeper
is a total advancement in the function of a tdc.

That's alright if you can get the re-targetting to work. It doesn't for me at all and I'm using the auto function.

You have to refresh the ship ID from the book for ship number two.

yeah, i had done that. I had both ships identified. I fired at the first one, but rather than the targeting info being updated when I locked onto the 2nd ship, my last torpedo heading for the first ship instead

If that had been SH3, when I locked onto the 2nd ship, my final torp would have gone for that ship.

With auto targeting you need to hit the red button (lower right corner) of tdc a couple of times before the tdc shifts to the next target.

Hmm, I have manual targeting switched on. Do you still need to do that with the Position keeper before the new info is sent to the TDC?

It might be a good habit to switch it off before entering new information, but if you are quick with the inputs it's definitely not necessary. In a convoy situation it's exactly like this: Send new range and bearing to tdc, send new aob to tdc, fire.

For me I just get great data on one ship and fire my spread
from that data. instead of a reacalculation its a cadence count
and angle reset. thats all. I have made some really beautiful
spreadforms lately on the torpedo range.

Yeah but, having to recalculate that information on another ship in a convoy wastes valuble time, by which time if your first torpedo's are spotted in the water by the enemy, the entire convoy will change direction.

I wish attacking multiple targets was the same as it was in SH3. I could get all the data for one target in a convoy, fire at it, lock onto the next target and the TDC would adjust the bearing and AOB automatically ready for the next shot. Made shooting at two or three ships in a convoy childs play. Weather you'd get any hits is another matter, but the torpedo's would at least go in the right direction
