Default TMO/RSRDC Understanding convoy spawns

My setup is as follows.

REL_TriggerMaru_Overhaul_152
RSRDC_TMOv15_V371
RSRDC_V371_Patch9
Historical Prop Rotation -TM
Poul-Sound for SH4
SH4 Flag Replacement
Optics2 over TM

Started a Gato, May 25th '42 patrol, looking to hunt a Yamamoto as part of the Midway invasion fleet. After spending hours looking for it along historic routes I finally found the sucker only to have it DESPAWN right before the attack. I saved on initial contact and repeated this several times. I though maybe because its not engaged so I took out a destroyer and was going for another in defense and it happened again..the whole convoy despawned right before I was going to chalk two destroyers... I watched it do a philadelphia experiment on the event camera right before a torpedo was going to impact , no doubt Nazi uber technology at work here.

What I noticed is that on the initial contact at 31N 179W the convoy was heading WNW with carriers on June 5th. It respawns about 10m to the east now heading ESE with no carriers. Ok I figured this is how it handles the carriers sinking, however once again... the convoy despawns after about 15m and is no where to be found.

Can anyone make sense of this, or seen anything like this before? Are any of the mods above a possible cause?

First of, it's the Yamato (named after a province in Japan). Isoroku Yamamoto was the Japanese admiral who planned the attack on Pearl Harbour.

Now that the history lesson's out of the way...

The convoy/ship despawning has nothing to do with mods, but it's just the way the game handles units. There is a file called the "campaign layer" that is loaded when you start the game. The campaign layer dictates when and where what ships spawn, their route, type of vessels, chance of spawning etc. When the ship/convoy reaches the end point on the route, rather than having them stop in the middle of the sea, the game simply despawns them.

Thanks, glad to hear it's not a mod problem. I posted that early in the moring and definately had Yamamoto on the brain after hours of trying to figure out WTF was up. I just don't understand why the route back spawn only lasted for 15m since it was the begining of the return to Japan.

I restarted the campain and flanked out and found the convoy June 1st and had plenty of time to take out all three BB. It took 7 to eight torpedoes to sink the Yamato, and what a show, definately the best fireworks display I've seen in the game.

If anyone wants to give it a try, just start a May 25th '42 campain and head to 31,30 North starting at 178W and head directly East. Get there at flank, refuel at midway and then go standard once at the coords above and you should be set. Nice way to start off a campain and celebrate a 4th of July
