Default FPS vs Ram memory

i Replaced my 6600gt card with a ati 2600 xt and the difference is very little in frames per second, about the same in the Navigation training mission,
in the convoy ambush only 3 more frames and a bit more estable, but i expected more difference between the old and new card, only seems to be more estable, but not in the fps indicator.

It´s a 2400+ with 1 Gb of ram.

someone know if installing more memory can help to improve my frames rate?? :hmm:
i think that more Ram memory help to reduce load times and stutter, and the graphic card in the frames rate..:hmm: but i´m not sure.

The next i want to check bios parameters of the motherboard , like ram speed and others but i don´t expect a noticeable difference in performance ...

I have a fairly old rig but is adaquate for SHIV.

-2.0 GHz processor
-2.0 gigs of ram
Nvidia 7400 with 256

A month ago, I upgraded ram from 1 gig. I noticed that loading and exiting programs was much faster. Everything felt smoother

As far as video. FPS for SHIV changed only slightly (1 to 5) . The machine seemed to handle explosions and smoke better. All in all there were a lot of little differences in video.

FPS for SHIII changed substantially (about 15-20). Very impressed!
Panning around was as smooth as silk (sometimes).

The only problem I really have had is increased cutting or screen juttering. That's why I say sometimes. The cutting is fixed by video sync so no problem.

I would recomend that you upgrade to 2 gigs. That way you get the dual channel effect. I don't know if you're running XP, but it doesn't recognize ram over ~3.2 gigs. I'm not sure about that effect in Vista.

Desktop memory is cheaper than laptop memory.
I was able to get 2 1gig sticks of laptop memory(kingston) for about 65 dollars(frys). Look around for the best price.

Perhaps you have a bottleneck on the motherboard. What is the FSB speed. My board is clipped at a miserable 400 Mhz. This is a nasty bottleneck. I'm running a 7800OC and 2 gig RAM with 3200+ running at 2.2

I've never looked into FSB before. I've run CPU-z and I'm sure my system needs optimizing. I'll look into it further on the net. Thank you for pointing this out!

Processor is Core 2 Duo T7200

CPU PAGE
Bus speed is at 166.3 MHz
Rated FSB is 665.0 MHz

MEMORY PAGE
DRAM Frequency = 332.5 MHz
FSB/DRAM = 1:2

In addition to the points already made, remember that lots of little things matter to the fps rates in SH4. Disabling the event camera and volumetric fog helps the frame rate a lot. Playing with the sliders and making small changes in the settings menu also has a huge effect.

I run the game using a Geforce 7600GT video card , a P4 3.0 processor and 2 GIGS of RAM. I run TMO with everything maxed out, but with the event camera disabled. I also disable some windows background programs during game play. The game looks stunning, plays smooth, and I get between 37 and 45 fps on the exterior shots. In port, the fps drops to about 24.

I have a 7600GS w/500 mb, a P2.8 and 2 gigs ram. I have everything in the left selectable column unchecked and everything in the right column checked except vertical sync. My sliders are mostly in the middle. I get excellent fps, the game is smooth except thru the TDC, then it's slightly jerky. Game looks wonderful. I have event camera off.

I think the extra gig of ram I installed a year ago really helped.
