Has anyone ever tried converting the SCXiic campaigns to DW? Just curious to how well it worked.

It's a lot of tedious tweaking.
I played around with making the SC Russian campaign SCX compatible. I spent most of my time moving a lot of stuff around to adjust for different sensor ranges from stock and the same for some tweaking of a few mission objective scripts. It ended up being mostly testing the same thing over and over again until it felt right. It was more like work, for me. Tracking down little oddities isn't my bag, baby. I can only imagine how many more there would be bringing them into DW.

Two other items to watch for: 1) SCX has more & different units than DW, so often you must find substitutions. 2) SC has certain 'triggers' available that didn't find their way into DW, so some goals and objectives might be screwed up after the conversion.
It can be done, though, and isn't too difficult in most cases. Last edited by Bill Nichols; 11-04-08 at 06:57 AM. |
