Default Mod for reward-points?

Hello,

I`ve a question regarding the points you get for sinking a ship in
GWX 2.1:
In my opinion you get the reward for the tonnage you sunk.
But I did`nt see any difference between warships and freighters.

As its a lot of more difficult to sink a warship it would be more
realistic if you get more points for sinking a 1.600 ton destroyer
than for sinking a 1.600 ton freighter. At least twice the points
for a warship of the same seize of a frighter would be quite realistic
I think.

Does there already exist an mod?

What are you thinking about this?

Thanks!

Christian

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that Doenitz was more interested in seeing his kaleuns attck merchants rather than warships. After all it was the merchants who were carrying the valuable cargo. I believe that this is the reason behind GWX's (sp?) renown system. Most destroyers are pretty light, not much over 1000 tons, so the payoff you may get from sinking one really isn't worth the risk. I avoid destroyers like the plague as they're just too fast & maneuverable (even the oldest & slowest ones) to even consider.

I've never seen a mod for what you're asking & if one does exist I doubt that it's GWX compatable.

You can change each ship's renown yourself, editing the respective cfg files in the Data\Sea\XXX_Ship folders.

For example, in the Data\Sea\NBB_HMSAnson folder you'll find the file named NBB_HMSAnson.cfg, which includes the line:
RenownAwarded=1500

Change it to whatever you please.

Hello guys!

Thank you for the answers. I am thinking about it because warships are much more
difficult to sink. Especially the little ones...

...and much more dangerous. I myself too try to avoid the ecorts the most time
but if I get one it was a much more difficult thing to sink a freighter

The best way to sink a DD is crash-course at zero degrees and fire a torpedo with
magneto ignition between 400 and 500 metres distance.

In 9 from 10 trials our escort will be hit

Don`t forget to run full ahead before fireing the torp as the DD shall hear where
you are so he won`t change his course thinking he `ll get you in some seconds.

...and is running straight into your torpedo

Greetings,

Christian
