Default Kudos to the Luftwaffe

I hear all these stories from other kaleuns, of the Luftwaffe attacking ships and such, although I never actually saw them in action!
Untill today...

I got me a good convoy today, and sunk a freighter, before I got pinned down by a destroyer. I snuck under the remains of the sunk ship which made a nice V to hide under.
After waiting about 45 minutes (in TC, mind you ) I suddenly witnessed a sunken-ship-icon appear on the map, I thought 'huh?' and went up to take a look. Only to find a Ju-88 circling above me, which apperantly snatched it with a nice fat 250kg'er

I was so happy! First time I saw them in action, and saving my life in doing so!

Luftwaffe kickz azz!

Yesterday on patrol southeast of Hartlepool my lookout detected a lonely DD. Raising my binos I recognized incoming fire. "We're under attack!"
Ok - let's fight it out! "Periscopedepth! Knuckle starboard! Let's hit him right between the eyes!"
Fortunately no shell came close enough to harm us as we slipped beneath the waves.
Raising the periscope I identify the DD as an V&D coming head to head.
"Ready tube 4! Magfuse - depth 4.50! No TDC settings! Give it a staright go! Open tube 4!"
At 1200 meters I let the eel go and switch to outside view to witness the heroic U-Boot victory. F-twelving towards and under the DD I have to accept no torpedo is coming even close to the attackers hull.
"Damn it! Knuckle port! Depth 15! Rig for silent! Two knots!"
PING - There he comes - PING - Hell he knows exactly where we are - PING - "Lower periscope!" - PING - PING
Tschak-Tschak-Tschak-Tschak - splash - splash...

"Full ahead! Knuckle starboard! Up to periscopedepth! Get us out here!"

Luckily he only damaged our Flak-platform and my intension was to send him our best whishes from the stern tube. Raising the periscope I saw him turning when suddenly he starts to open fire. His flak guns trained upward he was fighting an invisible enemy.

F12! Let's see what's going on!

Yo! Two of Hermann's boys piercing Mrs. Valentine out of the sun.

Direct hit into the depthcharge racks.

A large fireball astern.

Both racks are blown up killing the rackcrews.

Jimmy Dorsey and his gunner are swinging the heavy AA around.

Younker Brown and Tommy Atkins at the starboard AA guns unleashing hell.

Unimpressed the german gunships continue their attack.

The first bomber in range Jimmy Dorsey fires his heavy AA...

... but misses.

Bomber 1 releases his load...

to be continued in next post...

... aiming at the foreship.

Jimmy Dorsey still reloading his AA gun.

The first bomb drops short...

... but the others miss only very close. The explosions push the whole ship to port and penetrate the foreships hull. Tons of water are thrown on the foredeck and the superstructure.

In a steer curve the first attacker gains height again.

Jimmy Dorsey opens fire at the second bomber...

... and hits the right wing of the incoming foe.

Severe trouble at the foredeck - turret A seems to be damaged.

Younker Brown and Tommy Atkins reopen fire at the second bomber having only an idea of where the bomber may be.

to be continued in next post...

A deafening erruption shreds the damaged turret catapulting the guncrew overboard.

The second bombwave seems to be well aimed.

Suddenly the forward ammunition bunker blows up and the superstructure lights up in a flaming inferno. Bursting metal, screams, flames, smoke...

Tommy Atkins hurt but still on duty - reloading.

On the port side Stanley Jones lost his gunmate above him but pumps out round after round.

Debris flying high

The second bombwave hits as close as the first one and ends any resistance on the superstructure.

The second bomber seems to be quite well. Made in Germany!

The heavy AA gun astern still working Jimmy Dorsey wants to keep on fighting. He tries to swing the weapon around.

to be continued in next post...

The bombercrews aware of this open fire at him.

Finally the DD crew is ordered to abandon the ship.

After turning the bombers pass their victim again.

A Luftwaffe job of 30 seconds.

Great screenshots, mate...and what a heavy attack from the Luftwaffe, looks like a Condor attack is prey or a Shark attack!

Great pics! Did you have to radio the Luftwaffe, or did they appear on their own?

WOW! 30 seconds of action captured on such excellent pictures.
They did a great job (Mittelwächter & Ju 88's ).
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome shots mate!

I give 100/100 points for the luftwaffe this time, being a bomberpilot in IL2 I know how big pain in the ass hitting small DD is.

These guys knows what they are doing

Thanks for the nice comments, gentlemen!

@ predavolk
They appeared on their own! To radio one DD contact is useless by the way.

@ jim
A "lazy" 30 sec AVI?
These are 35 cuts - plus subtitles!
I guess there is no way to assemble a 30 sec AVI.
And a major problem is you cant get all the scenes because there is no replay.

Sometimes a comic strip is vastly superior to an AVI.
