Black screen of death

I just patched my game to Version 1.4b and when it tries to load up it gets to the Silent HUnter III screen and then stops, the screen turns black, and crashes to the desktop. Any help?

Are you sure you used the correct version of the patch (DVD vs. Download)? Also, did you apply other mods prior to the patch?

I suggest you delete the folder SH3 in My Documents, uninstall the game with the SHIII DVD program, clean out your registry, and then reinstall SHIII and then the 1.4b patch for your game. As noted above, make sure you have the correct patch, as there are several out there. Also make sure the game isn't already patched, as the latest DVD's come with the patch installed.
