How do I know mods are installed??
I have a noobie question and am trying to figure out if I have some of the mods properly installed and enabled.
I am running SH IV with 1.5 update. I have downloaded Generic Mod Enabler 2.1.0.107. I also have downloaded some mods including RSRD, Trigger Maru, etc. I have the mod enabler installed in the SH IV folder so that there is a MOD folder in the root of SH IV. I have placed the unzipped mods in this folder. When I enable the mods using the mod enabler, correspesponding folders (e.g., "RSRDC_TMOv15_V371") folders are created in the root directory of SH IV. In this folder there is a "data" and "support" folder. Is this what should be happening?? Thus I have multiple "data" folders. One data folder (which I assume is the base (i.e., original) data folder) is in the root directory of SH IV. The other data folder (which is for the mod enabled using the mod manager) is in the following path "SH IV | RSRDC_TMOv15_V371 | Data". Any guidance is appreciated. Jerry |

The structure I must look like this: X:\Silent Hunter 4\MODS\RSRDC_TMOv15_V371\data X:\Silent Hunter 4\MODS\RSRDC_TMOv15_V371\support

any mod should look like this: mod folder / Data / and so on, sometimes it will look like mod folder / another mod folder / Data / and so on, so you would need to take the second mod folder and that is what you put into the jsgme mods folder. many mods come in a folder that has the actual mod folder inside of it along with "read me" files explaining what the mod does and sometimes it has it inside a "support" folder so it puts the mods "read me" in with the games support documents. |

I d/l my mods to a folder somewhere I want it to be accessible easily. named 'Downloads Sh4'. I unzip these downloaded mods into my 'Mods' folder which is in Sh 4 root directory. Then go to the 'Generic Mod Enabler' , on your desktop? inside that you will find the mod you've just unzipped. Just transfer it from the left to the right side to enable it.
Others may explain it more clearly than I have. steinbeck..:hmm: |

Hiya jflatto,
just had the same problem myself. What you'll find is that unzipping the file creates a folder named something like RB_SH4_effects_for_SH3_2_03, or something like that. Actually the name i just quoted was for the inner file, after you've opened the outer file. Properties will tell you that both files are 74.5mb, but the outer file is no more than a shell for the inner file, and the inner file contains the graphics files, but also the optional folders, help docs etc. This inner file, when opened, contains yet another file with a similar name, called Racerboy_SH4 effects_for SH3, as opposed to RB_SH4_effects etc. This file is 41.4mb, and it's the one you want. Basically theres a folder within a folder, within another folder, all with very similar names, and it's the innermost folder you want lol I suggest you unzip the file anywhere you want to store the optional and help files, but i'd avoid unzipping it in the SH3 folder. When you've unzipped it open it, then open the inner file and look for the Racerboy file of 41.4 mb. Put this file in the MODS folder and run JSGME. Then it should work. Happy hunting ![]() |

Thanks to all who replied. I did have an extra level of folders involved and that was the problem. I assumed that I should have had only a second "data" folder. The appearance of a second data folder was what sparked my question that something was screwed up.
