Default persistant escort

I came across a convoy in the Cf grid. Not too big, maybe 15 cargo and only 3 escorts. I screwed up the initial shoot and only damaged a couple of them and missed with other shots before the escorts got wise. When I lost them I went back up to periscope depth saw the coast was clear, surfaced and started to close on them again. All of a sudden one of the escorts turns back and starts homing in on me. No problem I thought so I go deep, silent run and I'll lose him. Not a chance! I tried everything to lose him, sort high speed runs after he passed me then silent. Diving deeper then switch off motors and sink silently, changing depths, nothing! He's still there pinging me, circling dropping presents. After 24 hrs and O2 down to 10% I elect to surface at night and try to sneak away but no luck. It's Jan 1940, my 3rd patrol with GWX 2.1. This is tough!

As the saying goes...

Dive deep and stay silent!

And if you can't, sink the sucker!

Get to periscope depth and try to shoot a torp at him(The Escort) from 90 AOB from under 400m - 500 meters at the most - but more than 300m with Fast speed, Impact only setting, and 3 meter depth. This should be a lethal kill to the typical DD Escort (V/W or A&B Classes).

With only 10% air left onboard this is a bold move; but could ultimately be your last move. Either way you either suffocate in your tin can, or surface and subsequently sink.

This almost always works for me. Be at periscope depth, & Make sure you have a stern tube ready to go, set to depth of 2m, fast speed, door open. Turn towards the attacker, at standard speed and when he gets to around 700m and closing, do a sharp turn to the left, maybe 60 degrees off your initial course, & increase to flank.

The attacker should pass off your stern, and when he is close (less than 200m)IMMEDIATELY turn 90 to 120 degrees to the right. He should pass close and drop charges and if you are lucky your stern will swing around far enough that it does no damage. Immediately bring up your scope and look to the rear. Your attacker should have passed you and now most likely be turning to the right so that he is broadside to your stern tubes at about 400m. I lock him up and send one at him usually breaking him in half.. I do this all the time and have sank all 4 escorts in convoys in late 41 before i even bother with the convoy using this method.

Try it

Tool.

Your joking.

It's the first happy times.

I got my ass kicked and blown away in June 1944 with a hunter killer unit, try going a few hours with them.

You mean you didn't kill them all, then sink 4 battleships, twice?!? :p
