Considering who blair is, I think he takes the piss as 'peace envoy to the middle east'. Such a title must be really galling to many, many people around the world. Peace envoy indeed, just who was it who conned the british public into believing 'imminent WMD attack; saddam has 45 minute capability' as a pretext for war? There were many other valid and long-term reasons to try and oust saddam, yet tony had to lie, or rather, not quite tell all the truth. I wonder if this is some sort of public expiation for the trouble he was central to inflicting upon the world?

But why he should do it in NY?? and as for peace envoy, he did alright in northern ireland, less well with Iraq (but that's a whole different issue) If he does any good, good for him. But if he's pissing against the wind, he'll just get his trousers wet.

It does smack of sanctomony a little. Perhaps Americophilia too.
He might just be looking for a reputation and gentle reatment from future historians. However, lets let him go ahead and see what happens. He has no real power, so why not humor him.
