Default Needing Technical help Please

The long and short of it is I had downloaded Service pack three.
Was having problems with slowdowns so decided to reinstall a clean OS.
This was done.
Forgot to uninstall SHIV which was on my D: Slave drive.
Did so after installing a clean windows.
My mistake was because there was no game showing in Control panel I deleted the game in D:
My problem is that when i try to reinstall nothing is showing in my E: DVD Drive.
When I go to properties on the Drive it shows the disc is naturally full.
Looks like installer is gone.
Should i just get a new copy,or is there something that can be done.
I have cleaned my Registry,Nada!!
I have looked for any lingering files in Windows..Nada!

Is there no one out there that has heard of this kind of situation before?
I really would like to get some advice here.

I'm a bit confused as to what drive You had the game saved to?? and if indeed You did whipe the game out of the said drive, then You would need to reInstall the game.

You are not alone!!! I find his writing real hard to follow.

After reading it over-and-over again 3-4 times, here is my take on what he is trying to say:

Did a reinstall of the OS - XP.
(Did you get it up to Service Pack 2 BEFORE installing the game?)

Then it sounds like he zapped the game off the D: drive which is SLAVE drive. Not a bad idea ASSUMING the My Docs\sh4 folder got zapped off the C: drive. Dunno - he does not tell us that - which drive it was on.

Then he refers the E:\ drive is the DVD drive letter where he is trying to reinstall SH4 from. He doesn't tell us, but, sounds like he right clicked on drive E:\ and did a "Properties" and saw the byte count of the SHIV DVD? I ASSUME he tried to open it in a File View mode and did not see the autoplay.inf file or the setup.exe file[s].? The drive should have "auto played" and have given the intro screen to install. Sounds like one of two things:

1. DVD drive is acting up,

or

2. SHIV DVD might be "dirty" or defective. Stick it in another PC with a DVD drive and see what happens.

I also feel "fiddling" with the Registry file on a new, fresh, reinstall is/was a total time waste'r.

Focus on the DVD drive [try another DVD disc - what happens?] or stick that SHIV DVD in another machine - what happens?

My apologies if my post appeared confusing. Here goes again.

I have two drives.
My C: and D: drive which I referred to as the slave.
I have never felt comfortable installing IL-2 or SH4 on the operating system drive so SH4 was installed on D: Drive.
This all started when I had problems with the first install of Service Pack 3, (slowdowns) then some failures like recycle file locking etc so the other morning..
I reinstalled a complete new Windows XP.
After going to Windows Update it scanned and gave me a couple of updates then offered Service pack 3.
I had tried to get Two but Updater wasn't having any of it, so my rational was that perhaps Service pack 3 has all of Two and more in one download,so I went ahead and installed it.
This is now where I realized I might have screwed up.
Because at the time I was having technical probs with the old OS I forgot to go to the Control Panel and try to uninstall SH4.
So here I am with a new OS and SH4 is still on D: Drive.
There was of course nothing showing in Control Panel anymore so I manually deleted the game.
I attempted to reinstall and suprise Nothing showed up in my E: Drive. It just registered "Blank".I tried several more times with no success, then tried to get into properties and eventually it showed the disc, and it was full "Blue" Full.
Later I checked IL2 and several other Sim discs and they all registered normally.
I have attempted to find new drivers but I'm told the DVD CDR is operating fine.Checked out several films, and music.Everything worked.
Lastly,I gave my copy of Silent Hunter 4 to my neighbour to check out on his rig and he returned fifteen minutes later and said everything seemed to be fine with the disc.I thought as much would happen so...This is where I am. I dont have a clue of where to go or what to try next, other than shelling out 19.99
Thanks for answering .I'll check back later because I'm grounded for now ,and feeling kinda dumb!

A couple of things, right off the bat.
1. with having 2 drives(C: being Your Master drive and, D: being Your slave drive) the only drive You needed to repartition is the C: drive( has Your OS in it) having SH4 in D: drive would not have to have been uninstalled, as D: drive does not contain Your OS. I always use My D: drive for anything I want to keep should I need to reinstall XP.
2. it sounds like Your DVD-rom/ram may not have the drivers. have You looked into this???. or it may be SP 3. try reinstalling XP SP2. I hope this helps in some small way.
