Default U94 has a close call!!!

I encoutered a Large Convoy that was heading into the Straight of Gibralter. In my haste to score some targets, I had a VERY close call with an Ore Carrier freighter. I thought i'd post some screenies up here to share with everyone the excitement of the moment.

I really did think i was a gonner. The boat didn't seem to be diving fast enough, and i didn't want to increase speed at the risk of being detected. I ran the engines slow astern and managed to avoid a collision at 17mtrs depth. The freighter continued onwards, none the wiser about their close run at nearly crashing into my boat.

I then snuck U94 back upto Periscope depth, made a solution on a Liberty Cargo some 900mtrs off the bow and let loose two under keel shot torpedos. Searching out another close target, i bagged a crappy Small Merchant too, hey, tonnage is tonnage It was incredible though, both torpedos struck the ships at literally only half a second apart, I couldn't believe it. Two ships going up simultaneously, it was like a Uboat Blitzkrieg

The Liberty Cargo exploded in such a way that i've NEVER seen in destrying a ship. Explosions kicked off one by one along the deck followed again by a huge explosion that seemed to tear the top of the ship off. I was smiling like a little kid seeing the explosions, it was great

The escorts, because i was right in the convoy among the ships, couldn't get a bead on me. They dropped several strings of depth charges, but not near me. And there was no ASDIC either. Do frigates have ASDIC, or only destroyers? As i've never heard ASDIC from any frigates escorting convoys before, and its October 1941.

Anyway, here's the screeniesof my close call with the Ore Carrier. Enjoy fellow Kaleuns

But yeah, about my question: Do frigates have ASDIC? Because after I sunk those two ships in the convoy yesterday, I didn't hear a single ping come from any of the escorts. A few cans were dropped yeah, but not near me.

I think that only destroyers have ASDIC because they are the protectors of all the other ships. Or you are running really, really silently!!

I've _always_ wanted to know what it would be like to get hit by a sinking boat - like square on, so that it drove you down to the depths. I've even tried a few times to get in the way of the sinker, but have never been hit. There's just something hype about the concept of being pushed down - even better would be being pushed down then pinned to the bottom...I'll have to get into the mission editor and make it happen...

Well, if frigates don't have ASDIC, they have NO chance of finding out where I am effectivley then. No wonder it was easy evading those escorts. Its october 1941, and i'm hunting around the entrance to Gibralter and the surrounding area, as there's alotta good ships and convoys in that area.

I plan to jump into a IXC, but only until war with America breaks out, and the Uboats are set loose on the American coast.
