Circular Run?!?! Ouch!

Helluva first patrol........

Sank a troop transport (Old passenger liner) and two freighters...........

Launched two Mk 10's at the last freighter.........

First one hit, I wondered what happened to the second fish...............Started setting up a third fish and then BLAMO!!!!!

Flooding, fire, injuries...........57% hull damage....

Surfaced immediately and found a HUGE hole in my S boat!:

Must've been a dud. You should have gone down like a rock. Ask Dick O'Kane.

And a beautiful S-boat it is! That screenshot makes me want to try out an S-boat for the first time. Is there any hope for me?

Just had the same a few days ago with a Mk 14. I torpedoed a heavy Japanese cruiser with 4 fishes. One hit but 3 ran deep and didn't explode. I chased the damaged cruiser for hours and finally got in position for a good shot. After firing another spread of 4 torps I scored 3 hits which made the cruiser blow up. I thought the 4th torpedo missed and right when I surfaced...BANG!!!!
My poor Porpoise hardly made it back afloat and was damaged beyond repair. In reality a direct Mk 14 hit to the front torpedo room would have surely blown my entire boat to pieces. I only had a big hole in my hull and some minor injuries (I don't think any crewmen of the hit compartment would have survived a real torpedo impact and here I was with some slightly wounded people...). I crawled back to my base where I received a new sub (together with a considerable loss of renown).

I'm missing my old sub....

I'm going to incorporate a standing order of diving to at least 100 ft after launching torps.

I think I was very lucky........I surfaced quickly........

Or, after launching, you could lower the periscope below the water level to see which way the torpedo goes. Usually, they go straight forward for a hundred yards and then turn.

You would think the sonar man would be able to listen and report something like that.
