Default Overworked radioman!

Hi all.

I was sunk yesterday; blitzed out of existance by a lucky destroyer escorting a convoy out of Gibraltar. So, I thought, it's now time to upgrade my mods to make everything even more wonderful than it already is...

I downloaded and installed the latest versions of OLC's 'ubermod' in three parts (OLCE2, OLCGUI-Special, and OLCE2 Optional Extras), the latest updated version of Racerboy's Effects for GWX2.1 and the Lifeboats mod v2. These were installed via generic mod enabler over the GWX mods Alternate Flotillas, Captain America's Icons, Integrated Orders, No Medals, Open Hatch, and Axis Med Aircraft Skins, as well as TorpedoDamage Final v2.

I setup to join the 11th/13th Flotilla with a VIIB with the latest version of SH3Commander for a Sept 1st start (although once I'd switched to KDB hydrophones, I actually left Sept 2nd.) starting the game outside ports. Being early September, the port allocated was Konigsburg rather than Kiel.

Within a few minutes, I got a message telling me my base of operations had changed to Kiel. Then, twenty seconds later, another arrived contradicting that order, changing the base back to Konigsburg. Again, another message arrived switching me to Kiel. Then, I received two messages every minute; one switching base to Konigsburg, and the other to Kiel, which just kept going and going and going.

I decided to pull into Kiel anyway, as SH3Commander's malfunction option has given me a dodgy propeller or something. So I decided to stop in for repairs and a new radio. I think I need a new radioman too, as my current one has turned a funny shade of grey and started foaming at the mouth after having to deal with so many radio messages!

Anyone able to shed any light on this incompatability/bug? Will it return once I start a new patrol from Kiel?

D/l and apply the GWX 2.1 patch. It includes a fix for this problem.

2.1 patch? I already upgraded 2.0 to 2.1... Unless there's another super-special-secret patch that I'm unaware of...:hmm:

[Edit - just noticed your linky! Sorry, there WAS a super-special-secret patch that I'm unaware of! D'oh!]

I need to do the aforementioned update to GWX 2.1 and then run the game on a new career this afternoon... I'll let you know once I've found a bit of action.

Ok, I can confirm now that my version of GWX 2.1 now runs smoothly. I'm currently on the shakedown cruise out of Konigsburg and taking out the target ships.

My install consists of the following setup/mods (enabled via JSGME in the order listed below):

Alternate Flotillas (GWX)
Captain America's Officer Icons (GWX)
Integrated Orders (GWX)
No Medals on Crew (GWX)
Open Hatch Mod (GWX)
Axis Med Aircraft Skins (GWX)
Torpedo Damage Final v2.0
OLCE2(.2)
OLC GUI Special
OLCE Optional Extras
AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix
Racerboy's SH4 Effects for GWX2.1 (v2.04D)
Rubini's Lifeboats & Debris v2

All seems to work fine on my system together. I have a few questions for OneLifeCrisis regarding AOB calcs with his mod, but aside from that, no problems... yet!

Thanks for your help finding that update for GWX 2.1 JScones! Your help is much appreciated!

Cheers all!

Siber.

I could be wrong....but

If I recall correctly, you risk a crash if you are using OLC's GUI and Integrated orders. I do not have the documentation right in front of me but I think it says the two are not compatible.

Ok, I'm on the case! Thanks for the heads up!

(EDIT: I thought it was ok, as long as OLC's GUI was enabled AFTER Integrated Orders?)

Now that's wierd. I disabled all the mods installed AFTER the Integrated Orders mod, removed the mod in question, and then reinstalled all the others. Now my game won't run at all. I start a new career, organise the crew/sub etc. and then whilst loading the game... CTD. "Do you want to let Microsoft know about this error?" NO, DAMN YOU!!!

Ok, found the incompatability.

GWX2.1 Location of [whatever the place is called] Locks is incompatible with OLCE and GUI. Other than that, the following mod combo works fine

Alternate Flotillas (GWX)
Captain America's Officer Icons (GWX)
No Medals on Crew (GWX)
Open Hatch Mod (GWX)
Axis Med Aircraft Skins (GWX)
Torpedo Damage Final v2.0
OLCE2(.2)
OLC GUI Special
OLCE Optional Extras
AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix
Racerboy's SH4 Effects for GWX2.1 (v2.04D)
Rubini's Lifeboats & Debris v2

(note: I took out Integrated Orders)

That's not quite right siber.
Actually it's just plain wrong. :p
They are compatible.
However, the "GWX 2.1 Location of [whatever] locks" fix should only be enabled if you use the "[whatever] locks" mod, which is not part of GWX 2.1 and does not appear to be on your mod list, so it looks to me like you shouldn't be using that fix in the first place!
I made the same mistake when I first downloaded the GWX 2.1 Minor Fixes update.
HTH
OLC

Edit:
I see you also have enabled the "AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix" mod. Again, this fix should only be enabled if you're using the AOTD ships mod, which you aren't, so you should disable it.

Ahoi

The "AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix" mod includes AOTD ships too
