...is where I spend most of my time now in SH3. I am addicted to the Type II boats and I find the best place to hunt with them after July 41 (when the 1st transfers to Brest) is the Irish Sea. Tons of traffic. Lots of lone merchants (even tankers). And depths of 60-110m on average, which is good for a shallow sea and lots of depth for a type II to hide.
If you are ever looking for a new campaign start up in a Type II in July 41 and prowl the Irish Sea. ![]() |

Must say that i have been enjoying the grid BF13 of late have sunk over 250,000t of shipping in my first 3 patrols, from sept 39 till feb 40. They all have been sailing out of convoy and the vast majority have been over the 8,000t size.
But on my current patrol i have noticed a increase in the patrolling of the area by the RN and aircraft. It seems my hunting paradise is slowly turning a bit more dangerous.

yeah in 41 you dive quite a bit, but in a type II thats not a big deal. yesterday I found two unescorted large tankers heading to Bristol. The Irish sea is like a treasure chest!

i spend all of my time camped out 50-100km west of gibraltar. good choke point for convoys and battle groups. sunk the hood and a carrier there yesterday in the same battle group. easy to get 100k tons in an IXb mid 1940's.

The Irish Sea is great! Alot of convoys and task-forces start just south of the Firth of Clyde (around that island in the middle).
And they always seem to be going north, a nice choke-point there ![]()

in what starting flottilla u get an IX in 39?
i prefer the BF Grids, the entry area of the channel is a good place where all the nice convoys from amerika arriving. In the later war its a bit dangerous there, but no risk no fun ![]() |
