Advice Please: CTD's in Museum
My 1st Post:
I am a relative newcomer to the game - having only been playing for 6 months or so - but what a great experience !! I am using GWX Version 1 but have downloaded and added additional ships and aircraft that I have come across on Subsim + new ones as they have been released over the last couple of months. My query is whether there is a maximum number of ships/planes that you can have in a country's Roster ? - I have built up quite a few in the British, American and Canadian Rosters now! The Museum has not been a problem until now, but now I find that when scrolling down the list of ships using the down arrow, once I get to about 35-40 ships in the "Merchants", the computer crashes with a CTD. I initially thought that perhaps it was just a problem with an individual ship and that by removing them all and then putting back a few at a time and then taking those out again and adding the next lot, I would be able to spot which one was causing the problem. However, I have done this and have not come across any problems - I can view all of the ships if I do it a few at a time, but if I have all of them installed, I get the CTD. This makes me think that perhaps there could be a maximum number that can be installed under a single country's Roster and once this amount is exceeded it causes a CTD. Does anyone know whether this is the case ? and if so, whether there is any file that can be changed to allow more to be stored ? Now that I have the ships, I just want to be able to look at them !! If anyone can help that would be most appreciated. Regards, Prince Namor Sub-Mariner ![]() |

The museum normally crashes due to a problem with the next or next but one ship it will be showing
Not encountered the problem of having too many units in a roster causing it Note the name of the last ship you can see before it CTDS Then make note of the error message When the pop up appears after CTD click on the blue text " click here " ![]() Problem highlighted below ![]() |

Welcome to the forum Kaleun.
What do you mean GW version 1? The latest is GWX 2 with addon 2.1. I can't help with your problem but I have always crashed when ever I went into the museum, so it may be a long standing problem. However some-one with more knowledge than I will be along to help. The forum members are quick to help and slow to criticise, like all good friends. You've come to a good crowd and enjoy your patrols! |

Welcome aboard Prince Namor.....IMO it would appear it is one of the additions you have added....try taking them all out and adding them one at a time.
A time consuming business I know, but the only way to determine the offender :hmm: |

Common problems may be an ID conflict,
or, as we have found more then a few, The M0 Gun Node Clone problem. Some units, when cloned, will CTD if a weapon is assigned to the M0 Gun Nodes. We noticed it but didn't have time to find out why it's happening. If renamed in the dat to S0 or W0 or A0 nodes, no problems. Null the M0 in the eqp file will identify a unit with this abnormality. |

Thanks all.
I will try bigboywooly's suggestion first to see if I can identify which ship/file is causing the problem. If not, I will have to look at the eqp files or take jimbuna's idea of loading them one by one. I took a back-up before I installed the new ships so if it comes down to it, I may just overwrite the files and start adding in the new ships again and test it after adding each new one - I'm sure it must be one of them that is causing the problem somewhere. At least the game is working, which is the important thing !! Thanks for your help. Prince Namor Sub-Mariner ![]() |
