Default Submarine Collision when loading saved

I've done some searching through the forums and havn't come across any relevant information to my issue. Many times, when I load a saved game, when it finally gets started, everything goes haywire. The sub experiences a "collision", everything breaks and everyone dies. This happens sometimes even if I save while on the surface and cruising at slow speed. Any ideas why everything suddenly falls apart loading the game?

Are you using a IXD2? There's a bug that makes it crash into the dock walls eventually tearing apart your hull. Otherwise haven't heard of anytimes where the sub will spontaneously combust per se.

If you've added mods during a patrol that can cause all sorts of problems.

If you enable a mod via the JGSME during a patrol it can cause problems as well, will usually crash the game once it loads.

Hi
I can only think of two possible reasons:
1) Have you saved the game inside a port maybe?
2) Have you installed any mods or patches when not in base?

Judging by your post you are saving a lot of the time when you're submerged, simple answer, "DON'T". It's a known problem and will cause the problem you mention when you reload the save.

Also if it's happening when you're surfaced make sure you're not in visual range of any other ships/ports when you save.

Having the same problem.

I just had this happen. I've been trying for a year to get the game installed on a Vista 64-bit system, and was finally successful with some help from this forum. After loading a number of the mods on this site, I started a new career yesterday in Aug of '39. I saved the game late last night. Conditions were high seas with a storm approaching, my boat was in the western outlet to the Channel, and I had just passed a French freighter (fairly close, it was nighttime and with the high seas, he never saw me.) Anyway, I got up this morning, loaded the game, and my sub immediately goes into a steep dive and crashes into the seafloor, killing all aboard.

I loaded several times and on one of the occasions, my crew told me that the sea fort was destroyed (apparently after ramming it.)

I've had this problem once, I tend to save my game on approach to convoys, so if I f**k it I can reload anyway, on this particular occasion, I save on the surface, in the middle of a storm, rain, fog, wind & lightning, perfect conditions when I came to reloading, I dont think the weather was keeping up with the rest of the intialization process, i.e, every bugger saw me coming, trying to avoid 3 escorts was hard work!

Heavy weather can cause the same problem - if you look at your depth gauge you can be as deep as 12m on the downward curve so it's the same as saving when submerged.

A very interesting point, that never crossed my mind.
There's always new things for me to learn about SH3.

If you save within rendering distance of the convoy (35-50km) you run the risk of creating a corrupt save and or the convoy vessels losing their waypoints and creating all manner of erratic behaviour.

Welcome to SS to you both
