Default Several Questions...

First of all, Hi. I'm a newb to SH 4, though I have played SH1 for years. I somehow missed 2 and 3 in the stores

So my first question: Does SH 4 have continuity? For example, in one of my war pratrols, I sank a Shokaku Class Carrier. Now, when the Battle of the Coral Sea rolls along, will there still be two Shokaku class carriers there or will another carrier take its place?
Or If I were to somehow sink both Yamato Class Battleships will I ever stumble onto a 3rd one?

Second question...

I fired my one remaining torpedo at a Kongo Class battleship. The torpedo hit just below her number 2 gun turrent and to my surprise and delight, the ship exploded and sank. There have been times I've sunk a Carrier with just 2 torpedos. Sometimes it takes about 4. So, does it matter where the torpedos strike the ship or is wether or not the ships will sink randomly generated?
I'd say I hit that Kongo Class Ship in the Magazine.

Third question...

I've encountered Japanese Subs in port (never at sea) and try as I might, I can't sink them, even with a full spread of 6 torpedos. I put Japanese Subs at sea in the Editor and tried to sink them there as well with same results. I assume this is a glitch or just an unfinished model. Is there a patch out that fixes this problem?

Fourth question...

What would happen if a full broadside of 18" shells of the Yamato struck my sub? :rotfl:

Thanks.

Hey there!

1. I'm running the stock game with patch 1,4 (no mods), and I have during one campaign sunk at least 4 Yamato in mid 1943, so the answer there is no. However, I'm now in late 1944 and just sank another Yamato, and a large task force seem to contain less capital ships later in the campaign. For instance:
Mid 1943, 2 Yamatos, 2 heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers, 4 carriers + escorts.
Mid 1944, 1 Yamato, 1 heavy cruiser,1 carrier + escorts.

2. Yes, the ships have weak spots. I know someone here managed to sink a Yamato with one fish only!! And I think he hit it between the main bow guns, I'm not sure.
Check this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=134824

3. I have no idea about jap subs.

4. You die!!
I think I was hit once by a Yamato (though it might have been simultaneous hits from Yamato + cruiser + escorts), and my hull + all engines were destroyed. The only consolation was that I took him with me to the deep.

Happy hunting!
