Default Now...I am annoyed

15 Sept 44.

v1.4.

For the past several (8) patrols, I am told to deploy to the same...damn...point...off...Luzon. Between Apurri and Taiwan.

I complete the objectives. No difference. Quite successful patrols too.

I thought this bug was fixed?

This seems to happen the most to people who do a lot of refits and rarely return to base. Some repeats are unavoidable. There are only so many missions to randomize against.

Time for a transfer.

If you get stuck off Luzon again after that... it's because they hate you. :rotfl:

I've seen many people complain of these prior to patch 1.4. I've never been sent on the same mission more than twice in a row myself. I have seen the same mission more than once or twice in a career with no other mission separating them in stock game.

Default repeat missions

This may not be what you want to hear, but if you are successful in your patrols in a given area and I was your boss I'd be tempted to send you back as well. You know the area, you find ships, you sink ships. What part of that is outside the brief? The navy isn't a holiday camp.
Also, I've seen people complain about repeat agent insertion missions. Hey, think about the poor agents, who probably got caught and shot landing, hence the 'replacement'. Although landing them in the same place may not be so bright...

There will always be glitches. My most recent gripe (of sorts) was running across a promising sound contact that turned into 13 warships. It was dark (4am) and a storm was raging, so visibility was under 500yds. The sea was so rough I couldn't get a visual on anything. From right in the middle of the group I launched 6 torps. 1 hit something, but I have no idea what. I got so annoyed that I almost restarted from my last save, then I realised just how accurate that circumstance might have been. I decided to accept it. It also didn't hurt that the escorts ran all over the place and never touched me. Oh, BTW, I was in shallow water...periscope depth had me 9 feet off the bottom.

In all honesty, I can't remember if the Repeat Mission bug was squashed with patch 1.4. What I do remember is it was a royal PITA with 1.3. But then I installed the Run Silent Run Deep Campaign mod, and that bug was h i s t o r y !

Default It's none of that

What is happening is that you are not completing your missions. For instance when you are ordered to patrol an area for 48 hours, you have to patrol for 48 hours within a 75 or 50 mile radius (depending on the objective and not always specified in the assignment. I've done 75 on just about all without trouble). THEN you must call in a status report at the end of your patrol and before you leave the area. Not making the call means you go back and do it again.

In spite of completing your missions (always call home) you will sometimes get repeat missions because of probability. You won't go there 8 times in a row, though. There have been some detailed threads on repeat missions in the past. I don't think I've left anything out, but it might be worth a trip down memory lane and a return here to post any goodies found, for the benefit of newcomers.

That sounds like the old army saying: "If they give you a crappy job to do, and you do it well, your reward will be another crappy job."
