i once heard a Luftwaffe fighter pilot being interviewed, the question:

"What was it like to attack a B-17 flying fortress?"

His response was priceless

"It was as if you were trying to... make love to a porcupine which had been set on fire."

Any big bomber was a pain in the butt for the fighters. One of the things I keep hearing and seeing everywhere is that the FockeWulf 190 was a bomber-killer, causing huge losses to the allied bombers. But in reality, the (IIRC) 3 points given from a destruction of a 4 engine bomber was the hardest thing to achieve in Luftwaffe.
