Default Anyone else with a static sound bug?

Is it just me? or is this a known issue?

Periodically, I get static explosions. Every so often, all my explosions turn to static for a period of time, usually channging views from an interior to an exterior view will fix it.

If this is a known bug, anyone made a mod to fix it yet?

Hrm...I haven't gotten exactly that, but for a while I was getting random static in different games at different times.

I have the SB Live! 24 bit sound card. When I reset the drivers so that EAX was not on by default, the static went away.

Try disabling EAX or whatever enviroment sound settings you may have and see if that helps.

Oddly enough I am also using a SB Live! in this rig. Oldest piece of computer hardware i have that I'm still using in my rig.

Same here. Whenever I save up enough money for upgrades, there is always something else I'd rather upgrade :rotfl:

i first started noticing the static while playing Anarchy Online and just figured it was their problem. But when I started hearing it in SH4, it became unnacceptable.

Turning off the EAX fixed it for me. ( in the drivers' control panel. I had to reinstall drivers to get it to work properly though)

I have a Turtle Beach sound card that has static in different applications. They claim that it's due to too much processor use, but I'm running a dual-processor at 3.0 GHz each with 2GB of RAM. I'm not too crazy about their tech support.

Nah, its cause your not using a Creative Sound card

After all, they established the standard in Sound back when the 486's were out

I used Creative products for years and my older machine still has the Audigy 2 in it. I went with the Turtle Beach, because I read a bunch of reviews on NewEgg where people were claiming that Turtle Beach had a better product and didn't have some of the conflict issues with newer games that SB cards were having.

If it ever dies, I'll go back to an SB card, because I never had static before.
