Default Red light cameras and how to defeat them

Simple. Stop at the light, duh!

Red light cameras too good for their own good? Some cities rethink devices as drivers pay heed, reducing fine revenue

Ha ha! No easy money for the Man.

And some governments argue that fines are not there to make money

This is one of my many pet peeves against the government. It really drives me batty that the government (literally) profits when its citizens break the law. In no other area of society would this be tolerated. Can you imagine if your boss decided that, in lieu of a formal reprimand for being late to work, the company charged you money and then kept it? Everyone would complain that it's unjust and potentially corrupt. Yet we except it with the government.

Look at all the major sporting associations. If any of them fine a player/coach/team, that money goes directly to a charity, just so there's no question that the league is doing it to line its own pockets.

I'll say it again: It's a travesty when the government profits from a citizen breaking the law.

There is a good reason for them keeping that money. Local law enforcement is generally under funded accross the nation. The feds always promise more money but they rarely ever deliver. Most of the money from these fines go back into law enforcement so it doesn't bother me at all.

They don't profit when you break the law, they make a little less of a loss running the country.

Well, this is disguisting. Law enforcement groups "encouraging" drivers to break safety rules

Although fine revenue is a part of government income, its proportion is so slim that, if I were the government, I would gather it in other ways or try to cut cost rather than risking drivers lives by indirectly "avocating" a bad habit

Finally, the most important thing is that, all drivers learns to follow the traffic light strictly instead of trying to circumvent it. It is the most essential part ~ education.

Hahahaha! Hello? They collect taxes. With your analogy, they should be spending trillions of dollars when they only make millions.

Perhaps the government can try preselling traffic dispensations!

"Ah yes... I'd like one speeding, two red lights, and an unsafe lane change please" :hmm:

Neal, Neal,
You have to think ahead. It's no different than a motorcop sitting on the intersection each and everyday. If he is always there then people will notice and they will stop. We always had an argument with supervision about tickets. Supervision wants numbers, when the motorcop would say, "If I'm on the beat then I'm a deterrent". Just like nuke boats under the sea, if he's there and you know it you'll go around to avoid...............

Profits don't exist. When you buy a product, the company doesn't profit, it makes a little less of a loss producing, researching and marketting whatever the company does. Employees? When they earn their salary, they don't profit, they make a little less of a loss living their lives. When a non-profit organization earns money, they don't profit, they make a little less of a loss non-profiting.
