Any Destroyer Based Games in the Future?

Curious if anyone knows of plans by any game developers to make another destroyer game. I used to have Destroyer command way back when it was compatible with Silent Hunter I. I enjoy SH4 immensely, don't get me wrong, but I sometimes miss the surface warfare aspect of the whole simulation.

Or, has anyone made a mod to SH4 where you can captain a destroyer? Just wondering.

I keep hoping that there will be a Destroyer Command 2. Seems overdue. No sign of it so far.

If you have SH3, Mikhayl is working on an awesome S-boot mod. Check it out in the SH3 Mod forums.

I still have Destroyer Command, new in the box from when it was first released!! I don't think I ever opened it! And it was supposed to be able to be played with SH2. I could never get into SH2 and just never got around to installing DC. Maybe someday! :p

I am hoping for a more inclusive surface ship sim, destroyers, cruisers, battleships and even carriers.

If they fix the whole No Skirmish/Crappy Effects/Range too small problems in Battlestations: Pacific, it could be a great game...

Default Destroyer Command

Er, IMHO opinion DC was bloody awful, so if you haven't played it you're not missing much.

Found myself wondering about the Destroyer Command 2 possibility again. Is there anything out there that would be the next best thing to destroyer command? In everyone's opinion, what is the best WWII surface warfare game out right now?

Task Force 1942 seems to be the generally agreed-upon best Surface Sim around here, I havn't personally seen any good ones in the last few years...

There is a MoD for a playable Beta destoyer Here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=135025

And there is also a Beta Pocket BB Here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=135891

Both are done by the same guy and he has put alot of effort into them. I hope this answers your q.

Doubtful. The SH4 engine wasn't designed to handle all the functionality of a surface vessel. Not selling any of the modders (incl. the S-Boot team) short, and if they can work some miracles that'd be great, but I don't know if we'll see any human-controlled DDs/DEs sailing along with a convoy, with enemy subs trying to get to the escorts and your escort attempting to locate and sink them, with most/all of the actual capabilities of the escort modeled. Maybe in a MP setting, since I don't think the AI is up to manning a sub and bringing off a successful attack.
