Default Subs that don't sink?

Today I had my second encounter with a T class sub in the Med. I put a TII just below her conning tower, got a huge explosion and the "Impact" and "Going down" messages. However she refused to go to the bottom, she just floated a few meters below the surface. The little sunk ship icon never appeared on the map, even though she was listed as a kill in my logbook. When I opened SH3Cmdr after exiting the mission, I had no warship kills for that patrol, however she was in the patrol log page (see screenshots). Any ideas?

P.S. After an hour or so I got tired of waiting for her to sink, so I decided to push her down a bit...didn't work

I must admit to being puzzled with this because mine manage to sink, no problem.

Do you have any third party mods installed :hmm:

Torpedo Damage Final v2.0, Das Boot clothes and a VIIC skin is all I have installed apart from GWX2.0.

Most puzzling.....I've just created a mission and sunk two, one by gunfire and one with an eel.

The eel victim sunk in 4 mins and the gunfire one took 10 mins (both in game time).

Was the weather good or bad ? (my test was in 5m/s)

I recall visibility was good, didn't check the wind but sea was relatively calm. I think I'll try setting up a mission myself and see what happens. Actually, my first encounter with a sub had an identical result, except I hit her with gunfire. In that encounter, I didn't stay long in the area because 2 DD's were coming my way, but I got the "Going down" message after a shell hit her below the waterline and that was it. No icon on the map in that case either. Weird eh?

@SmokinTep: That was Bernard's idea!

Yeah....when firing on a ship or a sub, fire below the waterline along the length of the hulls and flooding should take effect more quickly.

Out of interest did you get awarded the renown for this 'non-sinking' sub?

I recall reading somewhere that subs were worth ~300 renown. Well, the renown I received in those 2 patrols was rather high for just a couple of merchies. So I just assumed I got the renown for 'sinking' the sub.
