Default How good is the AI?

How good is the stock AI in the Add On? I've installed the Add On and the latest ROW mods, but I haven't had time to play it yet. Having played 1.4 using Trigger Maru, I was wondering if the stock AI has improved much?

Well third mission 1943 stock in Normal and the AI is pretty easy havn't come across any taskforce yet only small convoys in the Indian ocean which are easy pickings: If you surface they will fire at you and they will scatter. One mission i had to go into an enemy port and take photos a destroyer detected me and dropped depth charges very close then took off i manage to get away at silent running. Aircraft attacks some close hits and I might add no more crashing into each other.

Its funny you should say that as I was attacked by three escorts and they did appear to behave much better than my past experiences in SH3. Felt like I was in the middle of a triangle and the engines were cut from time to time.

This is either just stock sh4 behaviour anyway or the 1.5 patch. I cannot tell as I have only stated playing since 1.5.

Yesterday I attacked a taskforce in an IXD2 in 1943, five destroyers came after me. Two of them sat off to the side either not moving or moving really slow, hence not showing up on the hydrophones, probably listening for me to accelerate out of the way of the depth charges, while three of them took turns depth-charging me. Seems the thermal layer acts more like a thermal barrier tho, they will ping you like mad when you are above it, but once you get below it they lose you pretty fast.
