Default Detecting Radar signals

any handy tips for telling the difference between radar signals from ships from those on planes?

What I am doing now is marking the bearing and seeing how it shifts. Is that the best I can do

nooblet minds want to know

I dont think you can differentiate from them, except by how fast it moves or closes in, which is what you're doing. That's the only way I've been able to tell, and I think that's the only way to tell.

your watch crew will be able to spot the aircraft with just enough time to initiate a crash dive... you will probably clear abotu 40 meters depth by the time the bombs hit the water.

one way is to just wait and see if you spot an aircraft or a ship.

the other method is to have map contacts turned on and see how rapidly the grey line moves fast = plane not so fast - ship

If you use Sh3Cmdr you can set the Tc for enemy planes spotted to 0 ( zero ).
That pauses the game when planes, any plane, is spotted. Works also on the radar receiver.
It can be a bit irritating getting out of port though...

If I remember this correctly, in RL they did not get any direction or speed, only an indication that someone turned on their radar somewhere within the receivers range.

i believe this is correct.

however within the game options of SH3 this option is available to players.

another thing about turning the time compression to zero when aircraft are spoted... it could become an issue when the crew encounters a situation in which an aircraft is just on the edge of visual range and they say "aircraft spotted" over and over again.

might drive some players a bit batty :rotfl:
