Do you know the book:
SUBMARINES: A damned english weapon! This book refers to WW1. In my opnion the british submarines had a very gallant story to tell in both WW1 and WW2. Nevertheless, the lack of targets and the overwellming from battleship actions subsecuentlly covered their action! |

British submarines had a pretty good run in WW2, they did quite alot of damage to axis shipping in the North sea and the Med. There efforts were just over shadowed by that of the Kreigsmarine and the US submarine service.
"During the Second World War, British submarines proved, for the second time in twenty years, their value and importance as a supreme strategic weapon. 475 merchant ships, 105 warships and 36 submarines had been sunk, with many others damaged. The course of the North African campaign had been decisively altered. However, the cost was a heavy one. 74 of the 206 boats in the Submarine Service did not return, while 3,142 men (1 in 3 who served) were killed and 359 captured." |

The correct name for the ship was "Armando Diaz", not Diez.
She was a light cruiser, displacing 6000 tons, with 8 152 mm guns and a speed of almost 39 kts -- but no armor at all and a lousy underwater protection. The Regia Marina built six cruisers of this class between the end of the 1920's and the beginning of the 30's. They looked very similar to the Zara class heavy cruisers you find in GWX, but obviously smaller. Here you can find some photos and data. Will anyone ever put these beautiful ships in GWX?
