Default US Government ready to spy on MMO players

Never seen in wow any racism, anti US anti Muslim any hate mongers while playing & i use the chat always while running around in the game. I suppose they're out there though. I have seen one funny incident in chat, a christian group advertise their new Guild asking for wow players to join up if they wish. Next thing posters were reporting it to the GM's (moderators)

There are bad people on the internet. Really bad. Good thing the government is gonna get them! According to the US Director of National Intelligence, the country's top snoopers are developing software that will help trackdown violent extremists congregating in online worlds. The proposed project falls under the post 9/11 "Data Mining Reporting Act." ("Data mining" is defined as "a program involving pattern-based queries, searches or other analyses of 1 or more electronic databases" in order to "discover or locate a predictive pattern or anomaly indicative of terrorist or criminal activity...") Called "The Reynard Project," this new software will first study the way gamers behave online, and then apply this data while searching for violent extremists. Still in its preliminary stages, the ultimate goal is to "automatically detecting suspicious behavior and actions in the virtual world." Thus, the program could detect "normal" MMO gaming behavior and pinpoint those who are deviating from that norm. Hello Big Brother!

US Spies want to find Terroists in Warcraft

But someone should tell the CIA that 98% of WoW players are Americans. Go figure.

Heh thats about as funny when they thought Battlefield 2 was a terrorist training game (or something to that effect).

Frankly i highly doubt terrorists (other then maybe home terrorist groups) are congregating on commercial MMO games. I could see it more in games like second life, but not wow.

Also I don't know what server your playing on, but when i use to play I saw plenty of racist comments spewed in global channels, the usual "semi normal person + annonimity = complete *******", tea baggers, and all the other behavior I've grown to utterly hate with regard to public servers of any kind. Though I admittedly only played WoW for a few months before growing sick to death of the endless monotonous time sink it is.

Good luck with that!

They'll get sick of the Chinese Gold Farmers spamming them and give up.

I can understand it though. With most of the Terrorists communications options compromised,it is possible they may try MMOs for communications drops.

Keep in mind, these people are no fools, they WILL find alternate methods of communications.
