Default Pearl Harbor Attack 2 weeks late in SH4

Started a new campaign and decided to act on some intel and sail north of Hawaii, thinking I'd catch the enemy moving on the Aleutian Chain.

Instead I ran into Yamamoto's entire Pearl Harbor strike force almost 2 weeks after the historical attack.

If you want a Lat/Long and a date PM me (I'd don't wanna spoil it for folks that wanna go look for him)

The fleet has excellent air cover and good destroyer screen. I got inside the screen but they knew I was there. The entire force was making 34 knots and zigzagging like crazy. I launched four at the Hiryu and four more at the Soryu but I didn't hit squat.

I guess my manual TDC work against zigzagging fast warships isn't up to par.

Maybe Yamamato shamed Nagumo into going back and striking those carriers, oil farms and dock facilities he missed the first time.

From what I understand, it's always been notoriously hard for modders to script actual events accurately in the campaign layers. Imagine if you did try....how would you control the outcomes of the battles in the SH4 engine so that they mirrored the true to life events?

I tend to ignore the big events like the Battle of Midway and Pearl Harbor. I just role play it as if I had no advance knowledge of it (as I really wouldn't have!) and was in the wrong place in the wrong time.

In this case the error is obvious if you are familiar with the mission scripting in SH. The task Force leaves Japan on the day of infamy instead of November 26.

I'm gonna have to check some of the other big events and see if there are similar errors.

Geez. Guess they'll have to change the attack signal from Tora,Tora,Tora to Tardy,Tardy Tardy.
