Default Yaaaawn!

Well, for the 1st time I tried out a career out of Pearl. Sailed over 4600 nm to Ryukyu Islands and a big fat zero! No ships, no planes, no damn seagulls (even at nights), no letters from the Admiral's daughter. But these things happen. I was more worried bout my fuel levels than anything else. I barely made it to Midway with less that 25%. If Midway wasn't there then I'd be rowing back home. My question is did Pearl send out fleet boats so far into enemy home islands early in the war?

If I can't find a target, I like to trade moonshine, er... um... FOOD & WATER, with the locals.

Default Yikes!

Can you send me where this stuff isn't happening?

Here's my typical situation in 1944:

I was attacking the convoy in the middle. Wounded a merchie and it's fallen out, marked to the south. But time is of the essence because although my original convoy is still headed NNE, here comes KillerKonvoy from the north right down on my position. Looks like I'll get my kill and get punished for it, as my time to the target and the north convoy's at 30 knots aren't that different. Oh, count the escorts. The north convoy appears to have four and there are three in the middle convoy. When the north convoy attacks me I could have seven escorts on top of me! As it turned out the four thought they didn't need any help. This is in the same area where you can't find a seagull. RSRD! Realistic, reduced traffic! Bullschnitzel!

At 2/3 speed you should have a range of over 14000nm in a fleet boat. Also, stop by Midway on your way out and "fill up". You can use flank speed from Pearl to Midway on your way out and from Midway to Pearl on the way back too.

It's just my hard luck at finding no targets. Not a great way to begin a career. But at least some of my green crew got promoted twice during the 2-month patrol. I'm using TM, RSRDC and NSM plus all dem ROW goodies. I just bloody hope my next patrol won't take me down there again but I suspect the torture trip won't end. I'd much rather the Asiatic career though.

Tonight I have some time to play through the new career. Tomorrow night is Admiral's daughter night. Don't wait up for me.
