Default First Battleship of GWX 2.0

After picking off 3 large merchies from an unfortunate convoy I decided to break contact before we hit shallow waters. The pressure was starting to show on the gallant kaleun (that being me!!) after 5 realtime hours of stalking and hiding and I decided to take my 3 remaining eels in search of easier pickings. About 600 km off the west coast of Ireland I picked up multiple warship screws heading my way. I set up an intercept and went to periscope depth as soon as the lead escort was spotted at a range of about 5000 metres. Up scope and joy of joys!! A Battleship of the Anson type steaming at 21 knots!!!

2 steam eels at a range of 5000m and down to the depths nice and slowly. I went to external camera to see if I was anywhere close my target and imagine my joy when the two tracks seemed to be on a good intercept. I sat back to watch the explosions and contemplated my next maneuver to bring the stern tube into play once her speed had dropped off. Now if you will, imagine my horror when the first eel prematured about 500m short The helmsman threw the wheel to port and I thought the second would miss but she hit below the smoke stacks. HMS Anson last seen listing to port but still travelling faster than I can.

Bugger

Tough battleship. Did the escorts give you hell for trying?

Not at all. Its very strange actually. They circled round a bit but nowhere near me and didn't drop any Dc's at all. I knew 2 fish wouldn't sink her but I thought she would slow a bit. I've just surfaced and sure enough her speed seems to be down to about 10 knots now. Whats strange though is that her escorts and the light cruiser travelling with her seem to be matching her speed. They're zig-zagging all around her. I always thought that in GWX that the escorts would regain their original course and speed and leave the wounded ship behind but it aint happening :hmm:

Well, she'll be in drydock for a while. Sadly, they don't mint medals for knocking a BB out of the war for a few months.
