Default Not sure if it's a bug in GWX2.0

I restarted my career. Went to Portsmouth to sink Hood again. Got into my usual firing position and let her have it with 3 magnetic torps. All three scored hits and I could tell she began to sink but she didn't. Her keel sat down on the bottom of the dock and that's it. Now I'm not getting a kill and I can't shoot anymore magnetics since there's nothing for them to go underneath, or impacts since I don't have the angle. I've tried this 3 times already and the same result everytime, though for some reason I was able to do it in my previous career, and both were in GWX2.0

I remember this was a problem (bug) a while back with the stock SH3 where ships in harbours would just sit on the bottom but not really sink. Is this the same thing again?

I feel your pain, Im afraid its the same bug as stock, when in shallow waters you somtimes need to destroy the ship outright, SH3 has two mechanisms in place that determine weather a ship is 'sunk' the first is from flooding, when the ship submerges its considered destroyed, but in shallow waters they dont sink properly and thus rely on the second mechanism, which is when the ship loses all of its 'hit points' and explodes.
It will often take 4 or 5 hits to destroy a battleship in this way, unless you strike a magazine or fuel tank.

So in your situation it sounds like you are pretty stuck if you cant get any impact torpedos to detonate.

In my previous career, what happened is that I was able to detonate a magnetic underneath its fuel tank or ammo bunker (not sure which one) and the ship would be considered destroyed. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the magnetic into the same area this time around On the other hand, I did sink an Ocean Liner and a Large Tanker in Dunkirk, and then a Modern Tanker in Calais on the same patrol. The thing with those ships is that they didn't blow up either, they just sank regularly, so that's why I'm so bumbed out about the Hood.

I wouldn't call that a "bug"... sounds pretty real to me...
Ok, herr Kaleun, you managed to make her seat on the bottom, but it'll take two cranes, and a couple of good blacksmiths just a couple of weeks to get her up to speed again... however, if you had managed to blow her appart... then that would have done it...
Better luck next time!

Hi!

This "bug" actually reflects historical reality; for example
  • the Japanese sank five battleships at Pearl Harbor: one (USS Arizona) was destroyed in a magazine explosion; USS Oklahoma was refloated, but it was too badly damaged to repair and so it was decommissioned; but the U.S. repaired the other three (California, Maryland, and West Virginia) and sent them back into the war.
  • The British raised two battleships (HMS Queen Elizabeth and Valiant) from the bottom of Alexandria harbor and sent them to fight in the Pacific
  • The Italians raised the Conte di Cavour from the bottom of Taranto harbor, though it never returned to action.
  • The Soviets raised the heavy cruiser Petropavlovsk from the bottom of Leningrad harbor, repaired it, and returned it to the defense of Leningrad.
