Default Sub Compartment Identification Error?

I just recently, and with success on the first attempt, downloaded GWX2 (and ran it through the mash comparison), the SH3 Commander files and the Armed Trawler fix. Congratulations to the GWX Team for a truly monumental effort.

I'm in my first patrol out of Kiel in a 2A. While clicking on a compartment in the repair section (no crew members were occupying it) of the crew screen, a different compartment is highlighted and described in the main sub illustration. Is this an error? Or worse yet, is my download botched afterall?

Once again, a hearty congratulations to all those team members who gave so much of themselves to make this game come alive.

mmmmm
If I understand you right, you had an empty repair compartment; and when you clicked on it, another department was described. Which compartment was described?:hmm::hmm::hmm:

Hi Irish,

Thanks for the taking the time to help me get my thinking straight.

As my original post stated, I'm in a 2A. I'm looking at the crew screen (it has the damage control mini screen in the upper lefthand corner).

When I click on the rear most compartment in the damage control mini-screen, it is identifed as the crew rest compartment. But in the main sub schematic, it's the compartment immediately astern of the command room that is highlighted and identified as the crew rest compartment.

I was just wondering why the compartments do not match up between the two illustrations. It appears to me that one of them is out of sequence. But I'm new at this game and am probably missing something obvious.

BobB

Again, thanks for taking the time to address this.

BobB,
Yes, you are right. I am not sure why this is so. It probably has to do with the larger boats.

Hi!

Irish1958 is correct: what you have seen is working as it did in stock Silent Hunter III, and it is working as designed.

Stock Silent Hunter III uses the basic crew display of the compartments of the larger Type VII and IX U-boats for the display of the small Type II U-boats and the larger Type XXI U-boats; however, the Type II and Type XXI do not have stern torpedo compartments so those are not displayed. This means the crew display for the stern quarters appears in the same location as it does for the Type VII and IX even though it is physically located in the stern, along with the maneuvering gear as shown in the damage control console.

We probably could have changed it, but it seems to me to be an awful lot of work to shift all the crew icon locations and U-boat sections around for not a whole lot of added value, since all the sections are properly linked to their counterparts on the other parts of the screen, and the compartment labels are consistent and correct, if not quite where you expect them.

I always though that happened because I stretch my image on my widescreen?:hmm:
From default 1024x768 to 1650x1050 using the rez fix.

Irish1958 and Pablo,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

I'm not that PC literate. And after sweating bullets and crossing my fingers during all the steps to get GWX2 loaded (all good on the first try), I didn't want to hear that there could be a problem with the download afterall.

Thanks again.
