Default GWX 2.0 - how it's possible ?

I played GWX 2.0 for a while and today once again cannot load saved game. Crashed all the time - after a while I saw it :

The same happened once before.
Saved game's date is older than date "in base before mission" !!!

Any help ? Sometimes I have to save game during long successful patrol !

I have always been very leary of savegames with SH3... there are a lot of known and unknown issues associacted with saving games (saving too close to port, saving too close to other ships, wind/weather issue, saving while submerged) there are just too many little gotchas to make saving a game during a successful patrol worth it IMHO.

All of that said... i have NEVER experienced the crash dive of doom bug associated with saves, I have in fact, never had any adverse actions occur after saving or loading a game so i will be of little help here to you other than to say... if it can at all be avoided- never save... just finish out the patrol if possible is always the better option.

Thank you,

FYG - I have clean GWX 2.0 - no mods. This save was as any other my u-boot waited for next hunting night .
I had no problem with saves in stock SH3, as well as, previous GWX.

How it was overwrote in files ?

I just experienced a system lock up ...

For the very first time EVER ... started a new career and on my 2nd patrol ... I saved game WHILE submerged ... now it loads to a point then it locks up ...

I have a clean install of SH III patched , GWX 2.0 , SH Commander and JCWolfs U-BOAT 1.2 ... I have never had a system lock up before with this sim and this is the first time that I've ever saved while submerged so ... :hmm:

I suppose I'll have to start all OVER ...

there are 5 things a man should never do

1. Never allow your Proton Packs to cross the streams "try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaniously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light"

2. Never piss in the wind

3. Never go in against a sicilian when death is on the line!

4. Never feed your mogwai after midnight (or get him wet)

5. Never EVER Save while submerged!!!!!!!

mariuszj1939: How come your last save is dated January 30, and the previous one is Februrary 2? :hmm: Did you mess with it, like copy paste and so on?

truth be known... there are not a great number of "game breaking" bugs. SH3 is highly seasoned and has very few remaining known issues... a save game issue which is easily overcome by A) not screwing with the save files outside of SH3 and B) following the save game procedures that is to not save near ships or submerged etc.

piece of cake to follow those simple guide lines if you ask me.

besides - short of your house catching fire or some medical emergency there is no reason someone cant sit down and spend an hour finishing a patrol rather than saving the game.

i frequently just pause the game to go about my day... and there it is when i get back, just as good as when i left it.

"game breaking" bugs would be a crash to desktop whenever you hit the "A" key to level the boat or a system crash whenever you fire a torpedo or order the boat to surface... not a save game issue that has known fixes.

also: i noticed you are new to the forum! welcome aboard! if you are experiencing a lot of bugs simply patch to the latest version (1.4b) and consider downloading GWX2 many of SH3's stock problems will then be fixed.

if you want to see game breaking bugs, buy a fresh release, unpatched copy of SH4 and try that on for size hahaha

I've been playin' this sim since it came out and this is the FIRST time that I've had such a problem with a lock up ...

So I've been pretty luck and in the same token been rather pleased ...

I just hate to have to start over BUT it was only the 2nd patrol and I only had 1 small freighter under my belt so not a real problem ...

That was my question ??? I have done absolutely nothing special - just couldn't finish patrol due to lack of time. Game just crashed till desktop

I play SH3 approx 3 years - game is patched 1.4 and GWX 2.0 installed well.
I'm not very active but try to read and learn a lot from other Kaleuns' experience
yes - I saved game when u-boot submerged !

i was addressing coinbird about being new to the forum... but if you saved while submerged this might be the problem with your savegame.

1. dont save in port
2. dont save near other ships
3. dont save submerged

my only advice would be to load the previous save and start anew.

I had the same thing happen.

I had GWX1.03 installed, copied a new SH to make into GWX2.0. It all worked fine, but then i figured i'd save some space by deleting the old GWX 1.03. From that point on it was not possible to load save games with GWX 2.0.

SO i uninstalled all SH's and reinstalled them. Since then it seemed to be fine

Dang, Rivet, what kind of TC do you run?
I've got at least 6hrs into my current patrol in a IXB. I've only used 3 torpedos, and hardly any fuel so I've got a long way to go unless I get into a honkin big convoy.
I had to abandon my first patrol because I couldn't load a save. I had saved on the surface just outside the bay after leaving Lorient. I haven't had any trouble loading saves with my new patrol (except for the horrendous load times).
