Default (REQ) a small u-boat id on nav maps for direction

Playing GWX 2.0 of course, I have difficulty determining u-boat direction on the nav maps without a small u-boat ID at the center to indicate direction. I often do not use way points to navigate the boat and it is hard at a glance to determine u-boat course with just the little circle on the map.

I'd love to see inclusion in 2.1 or a mod by someone which would give me a little boat ID to guickly be able to see direction of travel on the nav maps.

If a mod is already available, please direct me to it.

Just zoom in a bit on your map and look at the overlay... or your compass.

If you reintroduce the 'U-boat tail' ... all contact tails are reintroduced for all surface units... making your intercepts too easy.

It's as Lehmann said, unfortunately. The decision to eliminate the contact "tails" was intended to improve realism by making you do more work to track your target to determine its course.

However, this does mean that to get this "tail" back for your u-boat indicator would require restoring tails to all map contacts.

If you wish to have the contact tails restored, all you need to do is replace "ContLine.tga" with the same file from stock SH3. It goes in 'data/Menu/Gui" where you have SH3 installed.

Thanks for the response; but I do not always care to zoom in to see my direction; I'd rather a quick glance instead.

I do NOT wish to restore tails, I think this was a great improvement in realism. But, could there not be some other way to indicate u-boat direction when zoomed out on the nav maps? The 2 zoomed in nav maps contain a overlay for direction that rotates with the direction of the boat. Coundn't there be a real small arrow or pointer be placed on each of the other overlays?

If I understand correctly, you can alter the zoom factor for the overlays so they will still display when zoomed out at higher elevation.

It may be possible to create a simple overlay indicating your boat's heading for use at higher zoom elevations on the map or merely adding an arrow to the overlay as it is now.

Anyone out there know this for sure?
