Default Boy was I suprised

My little S-boat off of the aleutians just finished putting two fish into the belly of a passing freighter. As the ship sank I closed in on it to simulate rescuing victims (my thing). Any how, I pulled along side the sinking ship, and came to a stop. I could hear the sound of the sinking vessle, and the rending of metal as the ship's bow hit bottom.

Then there was a growing thunder, and the ship started letting go. Flames broke out from stem to stern. Then the aft mast blew off, flew into the air... and landed on the stern of my boat.

My boat got destroyed. Death screen and all.

I did not know that ship objects could wreck your boat.

You win some, you lose some.

Nice attention to detail on the part of the devs.

I dicovered that while happily throwing shells into a hapless meduim freighter from about 40 metres :p

I agree, its a nice touch.

Are the proximity of ship explosions modeled into damage?

I had a simalar situation where I was lined up with a great plot, pop the scope up only to find gale conditions on the surface .
Since I suck at sonar ploting I had the bright idea to back up to within 100 yards of the plotted target course, set battlestations and set fire at will.
Sure enough, as soon as she came through the fog all hell broke loose and exploded before slipping back into the fog. 10 seconds later I get a slew of damage reports, mostly aft and 85 percent hull damage.

Yep. Once I did a test on an ammo carrying LINER. The explosion took out the escorting DD and Dido light cruiser.

Took out a frieghter the other day albeit just a tad bit too close to the explosions. I took a 73 percent damage to our sub, not a pretty site.

I got the repair crew motivated and they were making good progress until two flyboys from Japan made an side entrance.

I took her down to periscope depth since I had thought the hull had been repaired.

Thought is the premise.

Never stopped sinking...
