Default The deadliest weapons platform in SH4 is.....

...no, not a sub, dd or BB or even an aircraft carrier, but a PBY patrol plane.

I was testing out the new TM on my custom mission where an enemy Heavy Curiser was entering Manila Bay. This PBY or rather two PBYs dropped their bombs and I don't know they must have 105mm Howitzers in them 'cause the amount of rapid hits on the crusier was something to behold. There were US destroyers nearby but I doubt it came from them since their ROF was slower.

Actually, I find the load out for bombs on aircraft to be greatly exagerated. (this has been discussed before I believe.)

But to think that a Zero can drop 6 to 10 bombs on a sub is nuts. I don't know how many times I've watched gyesers erupt around my sub on a pair of zero's attacking.

Most likely the PBYs are over stocked on bombs as well, since they could only carry on wing mounts.

A PBY-5A (the most numerous version built) Catalina's bomb load (2 hard points per wing) could consist of:

4 × 1,000 lb or 500 lb bombs, or
12 × 100 lb bombs, or
4 × 650 lb, 450 lb, or 325 lb depth charges, or
2 × 2,167 lb Mk 13-2 torpedoes

Don't know what the game loads them up with.

An A6M2 Zero could carry up to two bombs of up to 132 lbs each
