Default Help with flickering squares on lcd

All of a sudden, I've got flickering squares in the sky on my lcd monitor. Sorry but no screenshot. I'm running in 1280x1024 with the res fix. Never had this before and haven't a clue what to check. In case it might have anything to do with it, it's sunset, there's a target visible off my portside toward the sunset and the sun is just over the horizon. I say this 'cause the flickering almost seems to centre on the sun, although it extends about 180 degrees with the sun in the middle. The sky in the 180 degrees on my starboard side doesn't seem to be affected. The flickering squares are sort of all over the place without any pattern as far as I can see. It's as if the monitor is lagging behind on redrawing. But it's not affecting anything else and it's only happening in-game. What should I look at?
