If you are playing SH4 on a video card that is not listed on the back of the box post your videocard in here so people will have a reference.

(mods please sticky this)

Default Not sure if this has already been done before but here goes...

I have a NVIDIA 7600 GT.

It works pretty well, but I get some graphical glitches and twitches in the game occasionally. This is either my card, the programme, or my CPU overheating

Mobo: Shuttle AN 35
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2200+ (1.8 Ghz)
RAM: 1.5 GB PC 2100
Video: ATI Radeon 9550 256 MB
Sound: nForce 2 w/ headphones for now...
OS: WinXP SP2
Silent Hunter 3 v1.4b (US DVD) w/GWX 2.0
Dangerous Waters v1.04 w/LWAMI 3.08
Silent Hunter 4 v1.4 (US DVD) w/NSM 3.3, RFB 1.4 RC1, RSRD 115

About 15 fps in external looking 3d views (periscope, bridge, free cam, etc). 20-30 fps in the Command room, crew/damage/torp management, attack map and anything else I forgot (aside from the nav map). Up to 100 fps or so in the nav map depending on TC, weather, 'nearby' stuff that I haven't detected, etc. With my machine I can't really run faster than 1024x TC comfortably.

You have a 8600GT, how much is one of those bad-boys? And what processor do you have?

I recently got this card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150260

It still has the $20 mail-in rebate, but the free game promotion must be over. I got a free copy of Company of Heroes with mine. I love the card. It runs my current games a lot smoother. With the HDR support, Oblivion never looked better. My old card didn't support HDR.

Thanks for the tip. That's remarkably cheap. I am in the U.K. though and not sure if they'll deliver abroad.

I'm running an EVGA 7600 GT. I have the nVidia control panel running an overclocking profile and I have tweaks running in nHancer. It takes some tinkering to get optimal performance for each person's system, since not all computers are created equal. The advice on here is a good place to start, though.

A Nvidia 6200 256MB card. The Base level card recommended, but still does a good job of playing it, with graphic options at lower levels!

Currently running an ATI Sapphire 2600 HD 512mb AGP card and i'm well happy with it.. £58 and plays it fine.

the only glitches i get ingame are due to scene.dat probs with ati cards namely the below horizon sunset, sun glare is ok tho. I do believe someone has altered the scene.dat file to correct this problem but i have yet to run this as i believe it may be a stock 1.4 scene.dat and not have any of the alterations in it for ROW.

I made a modification to the scene.dat file (not for ROW- I'll be working on a ROW version next week) to fix the last of sun below the horizon problems not fixed by the 7.12 drivers

Here's the ati scene.dat fix if you're not using ROW- THIS IS ONLY FOR HD SERIES CARDS. The ATi x1xxx cards don't need it. You also need the 7.12 drivers, either ATi or Omega for the HD series cards.

ATi HD3870,3850,2900, and 2600 work with SH4, one issue left- the sun texture is rendered through solid objects. The water rendering is more realistic than Nvidia cards though.

Do NOT get an ATi HD2400. The card is underpowered for SH4

Evga 7600gt

And solid as a rock with no glitches and great performance. Average 38 fps external camera (thanx to Rubini's nHancer tweaks) looking at the sub and higher everywhere else. No overclocking on my rig.

I believe i downloaded that very file swdw however 7.12 drivers dont like my card for some reason, I have downloaded the omega drivers and will check those out at some point.

and yes the water rendering is out of this world

At the moment my card is running these.. ooops forgot mine is the pro version...
Driver Packaging Version 8.401-070725a-050962E-ATI
2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6715
Direct3D Version 6.14.10.0517
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.6747
Catalyst® Control Center Version 2007.0725.2231.38391
These drivers came with the card and run SH4 fine.

I look forward to your ROW modified Scene.dat with anticipation.. no rush just get at it sailor
