Okay, it seems that visability can be anywhere from 16km (using a mod) to 400m in really adverse conditions. It is clearly useful to have a sense of visibility when planning whether to attack on the surface and if so how to accomplish it.
Are there any fast techniques to estimate what visibility is in the game at any given moment? Thanks.

That won't give him the visibility range he requires
![]() My thinking is, it'll come with time and gameplay experience :hmm: |

here is an idea...
load a round in the deck gun and aim it for 1000 meters... fire... if you see the splash it is at least 1KM adjust to 2000 meters and fire... if you see the splash it is at least 2KM when you can no longer see the splash or it is very faint that will be the limit of your visibility. this is a good way to waste ammo but at least you can have something to gauge the visibility value until you start to get good at it? :hmm::hmm:

That is a very clever idea, but heavy seas makes it not practical.
