Default Antialiasing causes screenshots to look wierd

Hi,

This has probably been asked before but I can't find it despite several searches.

I have just come back to SHIII after a long break and have installed the GWX mod.

If I set my Nvidia antialiasing to anything but application-controlled my screenshots look like this:

Which is quite nice but not what I was after!

The card is a 6800 with the 6.14.11.6921 driver.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is this a known issue with an easy fix or will I have to start mucking about with different drivers in which case I will just change the AA when i need to take a screenshot.

thanks,

/Mad

hi mate.
i'm no expert, and ive got a radeon as opposed to an nvidia, but if i remember rightly the current batch of nvidia drivers is the 9 series, so yours look like theyre pretty old.
"update your drivers" is a stock answer, i know, but give it a try, you never know. just make sure your card is supported by the latest ones. you can always reverse the process anyway, copy your current ones to my documents or something in case the new ones dont work

Your 6800 should work fine with GWX....try resetting the card parameters back to their default settings.

Thanks for replies guys.

This PC is a brand new reinstall after Mother in law infected it with a virus and I got the latest drivers from the site (Version: 169.21). Are these not the right ones?

The game does run/screenshot fine on default settings. It is only when I up the AA that I can't take screenshots, the game still runs run. I was hoping to be able to keep the higher AA setting for in game sweetness and be able to take higher quality screenshots.

Not a big issue but I do like taking desktop screenshots.

thanks,

/mad

Madcowz,

I recently read on the Tweakguides.com website that the latest WHQL drivers in the 169.xx series by nVidia suffer from a force AA issue through the nVidia panel. You can check the archive news on the site for details.

They suggested using one of the older 169.xx series beta drivers (I think 169.12 or some such) until nVidia releases a fixed driver. You may check if the latest 169.28 has been released which may not suffer from the Force AA bug.
