Default Re-supply question

Returning from my first patrol in Sept. 39 in a type II.
I pushed my luck and am returning home very low on fuel. Approaching Heligoland with less than 10% fuel . Can I make it to Kiel? Should I stop before for re-supply in Cuxhaven? If so, how is that done, I'm new to GWX 2.0, so I don't know how to re-supply.

Thx for the help.

I would say you could with 10%. There is a margin of fuel left even after the fuel runs out before the boat stops.

Just go at 6 knots on the dial, not faster, not slower. If the navigator then says you can travel further than 250-ish km you are safe.

I had the same problem, bad weather all the way and I used more fuel than planned, wouldn't make it to Kiel, so I docked at Cuxhaven.

You will get fuel, repairs and torpedoes in any friendly port, but you don't get access to logs and uboat upgrades. You'll stay one month in port as usual. Renown is also reduced 100 or so for not returning to home base.

You don't have to do anything to re-supply, just dock and then leave the port again, it's all taken care of.

The renown for returning to base doesnt work anyway
You wont get it even if you do return

If you are using SH3commander you should only spend 1 day in resupply
Plus a further day for every % damage you have

Well I think you lose renown for docking at the wrong base, but I'm not sure.

One day in port? Don't your crew get some time off?
But I didn't know one month was realistic either, I liked the 2-3 weeks in stock game better.

No renown for returning to home base.

In RL, docking with a milch cow wouldn't even last a day.

In RL, docking with a milchkuh meant taking on enough fuel to get home, and one or two torpedoes for the trip, if you needed them.

Bearing in mind the thrust of this thread, as a newbie I have a question: how do you find milkcows on the map? I know how they work, ie, days spent in 'port' adjusted via SH3Commander, how to dock, etc, having read other threads. But how do I find them in the first place?
If it helps, I have SH3 1.4b, GWX2, SH3Commander and SH3Gen.
Any answers appreciated.
Cheers

Default Great Pictures!

I wonder where you always find such good stuff ?

@Dekessey:
10% should be enough IMHO...

And you can trick a little bit with the faulty SH3 engine like this:
Go to periscope depth and travel, when your bats are empty surface but do NOT move (so you don't use fuel) .. et voila... by magic after a few hours your bats are recharged... repeat from start....

Ok here's what I did: Saved my mission NW of Heligoland, docked at Cuxhaven. Got 439 points for my 6900tons.

Reloaded the game and headed towards Kiel. Before entering the Kanal, my NO advised me we had Zero fuel. I kept on steaming through the Kanal, waiting for the inevitable engine choke but it never came. I made it no problem and got the same prestige points.

Click on F1 and go to the resupply section, there is a list of milch cow/resupply boats availability and positions.
Sail to the marked spot on the map and keep zooming your map, get as close as you can then press Esc, End Mission, Dock at ......
