I have downloaded a few mods that are in .RAR format. I'm not familiar with that format, so not sure how to handle them. When I follow the instructions for JSGME, it says the mods are activated, but they don't appear in the game. If I download a mod that is a compressed file and results in typical file types such as .wav, things work fine. What am I doing wrong?

I use 7zip to expand .rar files. You can download it from download.com, it's free. Then just expand the files into your MODS folder and you are good.

RAR is another compressed archive type. You need to extract it first like you do with a .zip (or 7-zip that seems to gain popularity thesedays). I usually use Winrar for rars but there may be other applications that handle them.

I personally find .rars to be more trouble than they're worth-far too many corruption errors, and on large mods it takes like 5 minutes to extract the files, while with Winzip I can in there virtually instantaneously.
