Default Musings about WoW the wow player community

I've played alot of MMO's and have seen alot of online communties, but i think WoW's takes the cake.

These are my observations from the last few months, without exxaggeration.

- Everyone's an expert.
- Everyone has an opinion that is authoritve, It is the one one true light and the way.
- Everyone who doesn't share that opinion is a "Noob".
- WoW for the majority, isnt a diversion, it is a serious issue that must be discussed and expanded upon at length.

Realism arguments in SH3 or Sh4, can't hold a candle to this crowd of people.

I gave up playing WOW for those very reasons , most of the people i met really needed to get out more

If you really want to see how bad most wow players are , just tell them how crap wow is and how "Insert game name of choice here" is better and watch them go up in flames

Actually , thats a pretty cool idea if they could do it for other games - Ive got a Hobbit Burglar and a Hobbit Guardian in Lord Of The Rings Online that I wouldn't mind having statues of

I play WoW im on Tichcondrius US server, an ORC Hunter lvl 61. Guild i use to belong to was 'Horde Elite' but i left cause they were to elite for my liking I play for fun not to see who has the best gear or most honor I found myself getting too serious when i was with them it was like i got to get this gear today cannot go to bed until i have enough gold or find it in a drop before i do. Became abit crazy at times so i left Horde Elite guild and now just play wow how i want to. No pressure.

But Why is WoW so successful (9 million players and counting) when it has average graphics and sometimes tedious quests - go get 50 sabertooth skins and bring back to the wiseone etc., Its because its blardy addictive! :rotfl:Seriously once you get past the noob low levels if you leave the game before say level 20 then your okay your still have a life otherwise past that and Wow has got you and wont let you go.

Just brought Burning Crusade expansion which is a huge improvement over WoW, Im making 100 to 150gold per day and thats just in drops and quests, if i do it right within 50 days or so i should beabe to buy the Flying Mount which costs 5000g. Then i'll be flying all over the outlands

Blizzard Entertainment beats all game developers out there! They know the human Psyche well

I've played the vast majority of MMOs out since UO in 1997. I've never really played a certain one for more than a few months at a stretch before it gets old. For the last few years, the fantasy settings have really got on my nerves and I've moved around quite a bit.

After playing the PotBS open beta, I think I've found a new life sink.

After playing Guild Wars for some time (Now pretty fed up of the quests and don't bother playing anymore) I decided to give some other MMORPGs a go.

I only got to WoW and realised I don't want to have to pay for something I can just do in Guild Wars. Yes the game looks nice, it plays nice (Simple controls) and it has a MASSIVE community with literally hours and hours of gameplay available.

But i'm afraid WoW just didn't grab me. The idea of paying a monthly subscription doesn't grab me. I'm quite a fickle gamer that will shift into what I call 'Gaming Cycles'. I genenrally got for FPS, Flight Sims, Subsims/Naval, Strategy (WW2 and Age type games), RPGs and MMORPGs. These all last around 3-4 months and then I move onto another. With WoW being pay monthly it would be annoying to have paid and not be in my MMORPG cycle (Or be in Iraq). Wasted money!

I might have to try it again in the future when my game genre cycle comes round to RPGs again. At the minute i'm stuck on subsims and Close Combat Cross of Iron.

Theres a huge difference with GW's and WoW. I played GW for 2yrs or more and thought i was pretty good in that game, well i was had completed the campaign 4 times got to the end of the campiagn as you would know these games never run out of quests. All my characters were at peak levels i had the best gear you could get back then - this was before the expansions came out. And i owed in PVP. I was a master at it in my own mind probably So i thought i did try out this WoW game it should be no problem for me learning the ropes and getting up in the ranks, boy how wrong was I, i see myself still a noob in WoW, Im okay questing and the odd ganking (killing other players) but im no where in top form, i have greens and blues as my gear which is considered still pretty noobish.

Best part of WoW is ganking others. Horde v Alliance players you must play the game on PVP servers not those wimpy Normal or PVE but roll a character on PVP and then your see how good this game is. Nothing better than running in an area like Stranglethorn Vale questing when unknown to you theres an Alliance Rogue in Stealth mode creeping up on you then stabbing you in the back! - Notice WoW has the jump option compare to GW, Im sure they put this in cause thats the first reaction you do when getting hit by a player you jump like crazy in a wide circle in my case being hunter with a sniper rifle i jump in circles shooting at him while my pet saber cat is having him for dinner - I dont always come out the winner especially those Hated Gnome players with that ability they stun you only to then watch this little guy about 2feet in length owns you. Anyways I got alot of respect for Rogue players, its a good character to master. Sneeky bast**ds. But there is so much to do in WoW, the good gear the instances/raids the professions and you can also be bad and hated Now and then i'll head to an Alliance area and gank the noobs happily questing away - I just love to ruin their day

The $40 for two months gameplay is not alot when you think about it, I just head down to the computer shop and buy the gamecards. GW is free cause it is so limited compared to wow that its not worth charging for, I mean you cannot get ganked in GW when you do the campaign no one can harm you only time you want to challenge other players is you have to enter a PVP match. Pretty basic but kids will probably loved that way.

You are right on the money!:rotfl: The funniest thing, is listening to grown adults (>35 years old) talk about this game like it is real life! ...or boast of their accomplishments. "My gnome found a magic blah-blah-blah." The south park WoW is a riot.

Yep. But thats why Wow also have the Normal & PVE servers for those players that dont like to be ganked when playing but instead wave to the enemy maybe even do some quests with them and to top it off blow a kiss when its over. Where PVP servers its all about You and your side in my case the Horde. I head out there and gank as many alliance players as i can with no hint of mercy whatsoever! I mean i wont even have a character on the Alliance side cause i hate the Alliance. When i was a low level i got ganked so many times by the Alliance that in the end i vowed to avenge my deaths when im a higher lvl. I didn't mind been ganked by players that were a few lvls higher than me but when a lvl 70 would gank me i would think why! Hes not going to get any honor for it and im no match for him - damn when im 50 or higher im never going to gank players lower than 5 lvls than me. But here i am 61 and im ganking players that are in their 30's in Strangelthorn Vale and i love it! :p Its alot of fun also i help out low lvl Horde players that are there trying to do quests without the hassle of getting ganked, usually they will say in chat "Someone come help me! Ally lvl 50 ganking in area. So of we go to hunt him down. Im ganking left right and centre, then a ally lvl 70 will turn up and gank me

For the Horde!
