Here's my thinking on the matter: the radarman can monitor two separate radar systems (SD and SJ) at the same time, and of course they both have their own attributes. Now, why can't that be done with the sonarman? Theoretically, we could create a new passive sonar sensor that works only when on the surface and has a shorter range than the submerged sonar. It would then be monitored at the same time as the "old" hydrophone and thus solve the problem of submerged vs. surfaced sonar contacts.
So, can this be done? |
