Default Application Controlled?

I've been running the game at the highest graphical settings and with AA and AF set at 4X. The game runs smooth and looks great. On my current saved game, I was seeing fps on the external shots of between 27 and 30fps. Then for fun I exited the game and went into my Nvidia Control Panel and set AA and AF to 'Application Controlled'.

When I went back into SH4 and re-opened the same saved game and looked at the external view shots, they look the same to me but my fps is now running at 40 to 43fps.

Anyone know what criteria the game uses in applying the AA and AF if 'Application Controlled' is set in the control panel? A jump of 13 fps is significant with no apparant visual degradation in the game.

Hmmm, that's strange. I set my AA to 8x and AF to 4x and in-game settings to their highest and no drop in frame rate on my 8500 GT card. Opening or re-opening the game made no difference. I don't know but I think I read in readme file in the main game folder issues that may relate to the game. Maybe you can check it out.

I tried that with my ATI card & didn't notice any difference, the wires on the sub are just as jaggy with AA & AF set compared to application controlled, didn't check for fraps though!

I've noticed that changes in AA and AF settings don't sometimes take effect in SH4 unless you reboot the system. The difference between no AA and even 2xAA is so remarkable ingame, that you should notice it immediately(in both performance and image quality )

That is strange as we had to force AA when the game first hit the hard drives. If my AA is not on I definitely see the jaggy lines. Using ATI. Maybe it is a Christmas miracle on your computer. :p

Set AA to x8 and AF to x4 on your Nvidia Control Panel. But first add the .exe to the list first. I solved my jagged lines problem with this. The game looks awesome now.
