No, I'm not talking about that silly James Cameron movie. Recently I've reaquainted myself with my old Titanic obsession, something that goes back to when I was six years old (I was born three weeks after Robert Ballard discovered the wreck). There's a new two-volume hardcover book coming out early next year titled Titanic: The Ship Magnificent which focuses entirely on the ship itself. The first book will focus on the design, construction, machinery, fittings, and other equipment used on the ship, and the second book will cover the passenger and crew accomodations, interior design, and all of the public spaces onboard. The authors have put together a very interesting website to promote their book here:

Fell in love with the whole Titanic story after seeing "A Night to Remember" on a day off from school. It got me into U-boats and submarines in general via a book on the Lusitania. I even watched the dreadful movie "Raise the Titanic!"

Found this on the Discovery Channels's website:
http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence.../explorer.html You can explore a full set of deck plans created by one of the authors of the upcoming "Ship Magnificent" book. I've recently bought copies of The Discovery of the Titanic, Maiden Voyage, and Ghosts of the Abyss just to rebuild my collection. Some old interests never die! :rotfl: |
