Short update

It's been a while since I had a chance to write something, the military keeps me busy.
So far I'm enjoying it, but a lot of things irritate me. As in all ex-communist armies you must know the right people to have a smooth service.
Last week for example a commission fas formed, the commission had to single out 4 candidates that will go to West Point for five years. We had to write the SAT Reasoning test, I had the highest score, so I was convinced that I would be in the lucky 4, but to my great surprise 4 people with a score under 20 % where chosen.
''The lucky 4'' will still have to go through some test that will be administered by US embassy personnel, I doubt that they will admit 4 people that barely speak English to West Point.

I had my military oath ceremony a couple of months ago. Here are some pictures from that day.

Any chance of you coming over to Britain? I know RAF Halton has strong ties with Polish pilots

If I were in charge, you definetly would be going. I'd want to send my brightest as an example of the kind of people I'd have serving in my armed forces. It shows something about your country.

God bless you Polak ... Miss your slant on things around here.

Perhaps not coming to America and staying at West Point for five years
is a blessing in disguise.

It's a wonderful country ... many things to do here, but you would miss your family.

Hope everything works out for you ...

Do you feel like the military has been good for you?

Hi geetrue,
It's too early to say if the military was a good choice or not. Overall I am a bit disappointed. The equipment is really old and bad, my commanders are corrupted and incompetent. But that's the way it works in the Polish military, schools have almost no fundings and commanders that are too incompetent to serve in normal units are transfered to schools.

Fortunately, the reality in normal units is totally different. Normal units get all the new equipment and the commanders serving in those units have experience from international missions.

Time will tell, but I am still very angry that I did not go to West Point.

Is that because of the battered equipment or the mean looking black strip across his face
